INTRODUCTION TO THE COMPANY

Mithram is a retail-value clothing store based in 40 cities of India and having

around 80 divisions.

It was founded in 1996 by the Paulson foundation and has grown to a very great

extent. It runs Indias premier Value Retail Chain - Mithram. The Mithram

format offers a unique and differentiated proposition to the consumers. It offers

mega brands at amazingly low prices and provides a retail experience of a high-

end department store.

The Mithram stores range in size from 2000 sq ft to 65000 sq ft. The larger

stores are called Big Mithram and there are 6 such stores across Bangalore,

Calicut, Palakkad and Cochin. The smaller formats spreads across the country

are 20 in number. Mithram is expanding rapidly and is expected to be a Rs.

1000 crores chain within the next two years. It has carved out an aggressive

strategy to verticalize its current operations by setting up world scale

garmenting facilities and offering a one-stop shop service, by offering garment

packages to its international and domestic customers. With Lee, Wrangler,

Arrow and Tommy Hilfiger and its own domestic brands of Flying Machine,

Newport, Excalibur and Ruf & Tuf, Paulson group set its vision of becoming

the largest apparel brands company in India.

The brands sold exclusively in Mithram include:

INTRODUCTION TO SOFTWARE

Mithram use a software named ERPNEXT which is used by its all retail chains

all over India. It is developed by a company named ERPNEXT InfoTech

Services situated in Bangalore.

ERPNEXT InfoTech Services was founded in Bangalore, India with handful

professionals from various sectors. The Management consists of professionals

from leading Universities in India. Since its initiation, it has been focused on

quality and the success of our clients. We have worked with a number of clients

in India.

ERPNEXT InfoTech Services is a fast growing multiple service provider

organization with a good presence in HR Recruitment/ staffing, IT/ Web

DETAILS OF MIS SOFTWARE

I did my study on MegaMart the retail outlets of Arvind mills. I made the

following observations about the organizations software system used there.ERPNEXT is a retail software used by the retail chain MegaMart owned by

Arvind mills. This software is used for billing, Inventory control, Cost control,

Stock in Hand, Accounts verification. This has indeed been a major asset for the

organization as it helps in making their daily works more easy and accurate.

They use this software as a transaction processing system and as a management

information system.This system helps in billing of the products mainly apparels. It provides a bill

number for each bill and it takes in the ID of the product and takes all the

information about the product from the central system. It has features of adding

in discount offers without the help of the person billing it if the rates are given

earlier into the database. It has separate centres for taking in cash and card and it

specifies the details of the card and amount in the data server. This software is

also used for stocking as the data about the stocks is fed directly to the database

and as sales happen it automatically updates the details of the product and stock

left over. This application helps the inventory department as they need not

manually check for the stock balance.

ERPNEXT also helps in expense control as the database is in the head office

they get a feed on the moving products/brands and those that are piled up in the

stores which gives them a clear idea of what products they need to restock and

what they dont need and also helps in identifying the market which in turn

leads to efficient cost management and reduces unwanted expense of the

organization.

This software also helps in verifying the accounts section of the retail shop as

the daily shop sales and information of the sales are fed into the software

database and at day end all the information is to be in the database so that the

head office could update the account details and make a copy of the information

in the database.

The data in the software is stored in a database in the head office of the

company which is in vytilla and the information in this database is accessed

through a login ID and password. The login ID remains same for all the

employees but the password is different for all of them. Each employee has a

different password and it can be accessed only by him/her. There is no sort of

online communication among the various outlets. The head office makes direct

contact with the various outlets and provides feedback through online.

The system has a backup facility in the main office for the data updated and if in

case any error occurs with the software then as a result of power failure or any

other cause the data are to be provided manually to the software as in for new

data. The daily sales and other details need to be updated into the software

before closure and if in case its not possible then the data need to be entered

before the next day opening.

There are no legal obligations as the organization dosent use this software formanaging human resources or for other accounting purposes. It uses this

software for billing and other inventory control and cost management.

All employees can access this software with a common login ID but has

different password for each person.

The software has special security system like a central database and if any one

tries to access or tamper with the data in the database they can be identified withthe password as it is separate for each person. Since this software was

implemented with the retail chain in their beginning it didnt had a negative

impact on the workers job or it didnt create any job loss to employees instead it

helped the employees and management in making their daily works more easy

and efficient.

CONCLUSION

The study conducted by me in the organization has led me to the

following conclusions about the software system used there,

The software provides many functions as it helps in billing, inventory,cost control, stocking etc. The data is updated automatically into the

server.

There is enough security provided in the system for preventing anyunauthorized access or any malpractice happening with the data.

The software has got only backup for the stored data and new data is tobe entered manually to the system which is a disadvantage.

ERPNEXT is advanced software as it provides both transactionsprocessing system and management information system.
