The 4-H County Council members sponsored a dance as a fundraiser for the Mitchell Co. Food Bank on Sun., Mar. 18th at the VFW. Thanks to the youth in the community, the 4-H County Council collected 237 items that they donated to the Mitchell County Food Bank. Over 130 youth attended the dance. The following 4-H County Council members as-sisted in helping out at the dance: Drew Bellairs, Sam Bellairs, Izak Christensen, Hannah Cross, Erica Eastman, Jenna Hanson, Tyler Havel,

Megan Huftalin, Brandon Klaes, Jesse Klaes, Katie, Klaes, Laura Klaes, Darin Koch, Leo Kruse, Ralee Kruse, Roni Kruse, Lucas Maakestad, Hailey Meitner, Ryan Randall, Thomas Randall, Tyler Randall, Cole Riley, Ben Schwarting, Emily Sullivan, Ashley Uthe, Taylor Uthe, Ben Weis, Sydney Williams, Casey Zuehl. We would like to thanks Tedd and Vicki Maakestad for helping chaperone and the VFW for donating their facil-ity.

ST. PAT’S 4-H DANCE & FOOD BANK FUNDRAISER

The 4-H Multi-Project Workshop was held on Sun., Mar 25th at the United Church of Christ in Osage. The following 4-H Mitchell County Council members did a great job helping and presenting at this workshop: Sam Bellairs, Hannah Cross, Kara Miller, Madeline Miller, Ryan Randall, Thomas Randall, Emily Sullivan and Sydney Williams. The 4-H members who partici-pated in the workshop were: Alex Baldwin, Collin Brumm, Paige Brumm, Melanie Bye, Nolan Byrnes, Brecken Huisman-

SWINE WEIGH-IN

Date: Fri., Apr. 13th

Time: 3:30—5:30 p.m.

Locations: Osage H.S. Vo-Ag Shop & St. Ansgar H.S. Vo-Ag Shop ● Ear tags are $1.00

● Maximum weight 55 lbs.

● Exhibitors can weigh-in 10 pigs

● Weigh-in forms will be at the sites

Letters with detailed information were sent out to youth

who have signed up for the swine project area. If you did

not receive one and intend to show pigs at the fair, please

contact the Extesnion office, 641-732-5574. The 2012

Mitchell Co. Fair will be Aug. 1-5. The swine show will be

on Saturday and it will be terminal, same as in the past. If

you have other questions or need more information feel

free to contact the Ext. office.

MARKET SHEEP WEIGH-IN

Date: Sat., May 12

Time: 8:30—10:30 a.m.

Place: Mitchell Co. Fairgrounds

Youth who are interested in

showing market sheep at the

Mitchell Co. or Iowa State fair this

summer must weigh-in their

lambs on Sat., May 12th. This will

also serve as their ID information.

Breeding sheep will need to be ID’d in the 4-H Online data

base by May 15th. Letters with detailed information were

sent out to youth who signed up for the sheep project. If you

did not receive a letter and are interested in showing sheep,

please contact the Extension office immediately.

ID ANIMALS IN 4-H ON-LINE

Deadline: May 15, 2012 This is a FIRM DEADLINE … All of the following animal species must be ID’d in the 4-H On-Line data base by May 15, 2012 to be eligible to show at the county or state fair:

BREEDING BEEF BREEDING SHEEP DAIRY CATTLE DOGS GOATS HORSES

*RABBITS— *only if planning on showing at State Fair this year

All animals need to be ID’d every year. Even if you ID’d your animal last year, you will need to do it again this year. They do not carry over.

When you get to your account, click on member’s name and then click on edit Click on the Animal Tab at the top Under Add an Animal Choose the Animal Type by clicking on the arrow to the right Fill in the required information. If you need help contact the Extension office or you can go to the web site below… https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/Enrollment/help.htm About half way down the page look under: Animal ID in 4hOnline and click on: Animal ID on-line (Word or PDF) If you do not have access to a computer, please contact the Ex-tension office, 641-732-5574.

AFTERSCHOOL 4-H CLOVER KIDS

The Mitchell Co. Afterschool 4-H Clover Kid program is off and running this year!

Judy Grimm, Mitchell Co. Clover Kid program assistant, is planning fun and educational activities for

178 kids that are enrolled in the program this year. Thanks to all the youth and adult volunteers that

help out each week, the program is able to offer snacks, games, crafts and educational activities to all
