My Dear Parishioners,

What is really important to us in life? What does it mean to be a “success” in life? Why is it that society promotes material goods, fame, and power as marks of “success?”

In today’s gospel Jesus is confronted with someone who is belly-aching about not getting his own way concerning his inheritance. He wanted to use Jesus to get his own way! But Our Lord turns the problem back on the person and confronts him with the question: “Who made me judge over you?” Here we are reminded of our responsibility to choose the good! In fact, we have to be “on guard” against falling into the trap that only sees life as a matter of our possessions and our high status in power and fame.

When it is all about “me, myself, and I” it is easy to forget about God and our neighbor in relation to the gift of self. Relatively speaking, wealth is insignificant; faith is what matters! Life is so much more! Jesus made the point in the parable of the man who died rich in material possessions but poor in the gifts of the heart. It is not what I own but who possesses my heart and with whom I share my heart that makes a difference. Ultimately we can discover that place reserved in our hearts for God and invite Him inside!

In Christ,Fr. Guadagnoli

Visits to the SickPlease let us know when a member is ill or elderly, or in the hospital or facing surgery. If possible please do not wait until it becomes an emergency, when a visit and prayer and perhaps the administration of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick may be appropriate and helpful, so that we can do our best to attend to the people in need. Please call our parish office at 214-358-1453. Thank you for helping us to help others.

Guadagnoli, Pastor
