Mission Statement We, the people of St. Monica Catholic Church, are called through Baptism to celebrate the presence of Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament. In becoming what we receive, we are sent in peace to glorify the Lord by sharing our gifts in service to others and by inviting all into a deeper relationship with Christ. My Dear Parishioners,
Ember Days: This time of the year, the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday following the feast of Saint Lucy (Dec. 13th) used to be observed as Ember Days. These days were set aside to pray, to fast, and to offer penance in thanksgiving to God, in reparation for sin, and to assist others. Let us give thanks to God on Wednesday the 16th, Friday the 18th, and Saturday the 19th of this month for God’s mercy and benevolence. During this Third Week of Advent we can offer these days as a special time for prayer, fasting, and for spiritual renewal in our efforts to share the joy of the peace of Christ with one another.

Días de Ascuas: en esta época del año, el miércoles, viernes y sábado después de la fiesta de Santa Lucía (13 de diciembre) se solía observar como Días de Ascuas. Estos días fueron reservados para orar, ayunar y ofrecer penitencia en acción de gracias a Dios, en reparación por los pecados y para ayudar a otros. Demos gracias a Dios el miércoles 16, viernes 18 y sábado 19 de este mes por la misericordia y la generosidad de Dios. Durante esta Tercera Semana de Adviento podemos ofrecer estos días como un tiempo especial para la oración, el ayuno y renovación espiritual en nuestros esfuerzos por compartir el gozo de la paz de Cristo unos con otros.
