Problems

Problems

• A number of services of Pakistan Railways have been cancelled, suspended or terminated and many more will be suspended in near future because of mismanagement.

• Failed to maintain locomotives engines

• Engines are being scrapped in workshops

Bad Governance

• Shutdown 6 trains

• Federal Minister Cabinet approved Rs.10.1 billion in August

2011 for Pakistan Railways to upgrade equipment but only

• Import locomotives

• Manufacture locomotives in Pakistan

• Unnecessary political interference in decision making will delay the country’s progress

• Privatized railways

• Extra couches are available to carry excess amount of passengers

Recommendations

• Replace the bogus and old generation engines with the new

4th Generations locomotive engines

• Spare engines should be available

• Seats reservation system should be made online

• Proper information should be provided to customers

Conclusion

• Pakistan is paying a terrible amount for its negligence

regarding Pakistan Railways

• Needs serious upgrades

• A little help from the federal government, the Pakistan

Railways can be revitalized and jobs of thousands of

employees can be saved
