The setting of the film is an import visual aspect as it shows the audience what type of film they are watching and in what time period the specific film is meant to be in.

The setting also sets the tone to what genre the movie is as if it is a dull setting and dirty you know its not going to be a happy film where as if the setting is colourful and bright you know it is going to be uplifting.

The different types of setting are:

Interior,exterior,natural,stylised,location and back drop.

PROPS

Page 7: Mise en scene the powepint

Props are used very specifically in films because if the wrong prop is used it could give the film a different meaning so if you was filming a 1980 football film you wouldn't’t want a cast member turning up in a 1990+ football shirt so the use of the right prop is crucial. Props can also be used to symbolize certain things for example in castaway tom hanks uses a beach volleyball with a face painted with blood as his friend as he is alone so some props are used more than others as in some films props you think would be used do not end up being used like weapons or clothing. Props what people don’t think should be in that certain film are sometimes the ones that are used most.
