The Foundation Women In Africa (WIA) Philanthropy's mis-

sion is to promote the diffusion of education in the field of

economic development, and more specifically the training

of future creators of innovative companies.

WIA Philanthropy, in collaboration with Roland Berger, iden-

tifies and selects innovative women entrepreneurs from more

than 500 African and international institutions.

In its the first year, WIA Philanthropy promoted to the public

opinion and social and economic circles, the creation of

exemplary companies by making a methodical selection and

by inviting the first year group of 16 candidates to Marrakech

at WIA first annual summit.

In the second year, it was decided to increase this visibility

and support and create the first delegation of women

entrepreneurs of the African continent’s 54 countries:

Project 54 - WiA Entrepreneurs' Club - Promotion 2018.

1 000 applications were received and 54 laureates invited

to marrakech for a week to attend a bootcamp and the

Annual summit !

15 mbA scholarships were offered to the laureates.

now in its third year, WiA Philanthropy renews the WiA

54 Project with the ambition to provide entrepreneurs

with even more training sessions and international

exposure.

In Africa, it is especially in the digital world that entre -

preneurs evolve. The Web and the mobile are thus part of

the main business of these "2.0 women", who seek both

independence for themselves and helping their local com -

munities.

Women are the driving force of African economies, and

will positively change the future of the continent, especially

trough digital technology.

The start-up created by African women often tackle structural

challenges (electrification of the continent, medical coverage,

education).

Supporting African Entrepreneurs is a win-win and sustainable

investment for African and international economies.

the Roland berger and WiA studyThe aim of this study is to draw up a full overview of fe-

male entrepreneurship in all African countries and to draw

lessons and recommendations for both the African eco-

nomy and the world economy.

This study aims at:

1. Collecting data to develop a picture of women's entre-

preneurship as accurate as possible in the 54 African

countries.

1. Drawing the portraits of these women entrepreneurs

through a wide survey sent to all our African contacts.

1. Conducting interviews of some women entrepreneurs

and African institutions to understand their view of

women's entrepreneurship in Africa

1. Calculating the economic value of this entrepreneurship

The major results of this study are presented at WIA’s

Annual Summit and help to position the debate on the

needs and l to work on for the women entrepreneurs.
