Delivering Innovative Flexible Solutions Eight years ago we continued to further contribute to the history of Tokheim by establishing a new Tokheim Company, with headquarters in Paris. It has been a very successful and exciting team story, which has allowed us to continue to provide best value, innovation and high quality solutions to our customers. During this period, our revenue grew (organic and through acquisitions) from 329Mto 590Mfor the year ending April 30th 2011. By any industry standards, this level of growth is an exceptional achievement. Our headcount went from 2500 to 5277 during this period, meaning that today we are by far the largest employer in the world in our business. More importantly, during this period, we have focused on the development and expansion of our company culture and vision, based on the dedication of our employees to deliver a continuously high-level of customer satisfaction. In the last two years, our business has been impacted by the world crisis, our customers have understandably had to delay investments in some countries, Major Oil companies have divested part of their European networks and the market we operate in has become highly competitive and aggressive in which to keep business. However, since January 2011, we have seen signs of recovery in several countries, Germany primarily. Despite this environ- ment, Tokheim has once again increased its business revenues on the previous year: Dispensers: mainly in China, Germany and Eastern Europe and with the award of 100% of the Shell business throughout Europe. Systems: we have extended our market coverage and are now present in 48 countries, including 6 in Asia and have started to deliver Systems and Payment solutions to Shell in Scandinavia. Service: we have also expanded, gaining the service business for Shell in Germany and with Tamoil in Italy and Switzerland. Construction and project management: our business grew in France and Eastern Europe. The Tokheim business model of providing direct sales and service divisions in 30 countries has clearly allowed us to react quickly and adapt to the changing business environment. The divesting of segments of the Multinational Oil Company networks has conversely led to a growth in the size of regional oil companies and the independent market. We have very well established long term working relationships with these groups, and our local teams are able to understand the unique requirements and solutions required in these markets. In the coming years, we will continue our efforts with consistency in the same directions, clearly defined in our company plan. In addition, we are going to put a special focus on the following subjects this coming year: HSSE: We are already very professional in this area but we know that our customers and our employees understand the objectives of goal «zero accidents» and we will strive to achieve this. Our commitment to this part of our business has lead to three awards this year alone in France, Germany and the UK. Quality & Efficiency: we believe that lean empowerment of all our employees effectively delivers a better quality to our customers; we need to continue our efforts to stay ahead of our competitors in this domain. The best “TCO” (Total Cost of Ownership) is and will remain a key to our success. Innovation: our recent development of a new global meter (TQM) is now leading the market in terms of accuracy and our new calculator (TQC) will provide an efficient protection against fraud as well as deliver a highly flexible and future platform on which to provide new applications. Many thanks to our very loyal customers and dedicated employees; we will continue to progress with success for and with you. Patrick Berthon President and CEO Tokheim Group S.A.S. Alternative fuels such as biofuels are once again generating large debate andinterest on the global stage. Today, EU regulation requires 7%-10% of bio-components in fuels sold. The original goal was for a 10% biofuels share aspart of regular fuel retail sales by the year 2020. However, the new renewableguidelines currently being developed will most likely require a mix of alternative

fuels of 10% by the year 2020 - this would include electric transportation forexample.

We take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and we acknowledgethe part we play in significantly reducing CO2 emissions in partnership with our

clients globally. So what are Tokheim doing to help their clients reach these objectives with regards to Biofuels and what support can we offer in the alternative

fuels sector? Tokheim has invested a huge amount in our development of biofuel specific products and components. Our aim is to future-proof our products so that not only dothey comply with current legislation but also that clients can have peace of mind that theirproducts will be suitable to operate long into the future.

Our recent product developments have focused on our dispenser compatibility with “low blend”biofuels (both bioethanolas biodiesel) within our research programmes. Ourcurrent Tokheim range ofdispenser products is com-patible up to 15% ethanol. For Bioethanol levels above15% and up to 90%, “E85functionality” is availableas an option. This option isalso available as a retrofitkit solution, which can be quickly and professionally installed by our team of field technicians.

The solution is driven by our engineering team’s attention to detail in the process. The hydrauliccomponents are specially designed to deal with bioethanol levels between 15% and up to89%. Under this process:

• The aluminium parts are anodized.• The Zamac parts are plated with nickel.• The filtration is improved (a 25 µm mesh filter in stainless steel).

• The parts which are in contact with Ethanol are designed in stainless steel.

Outside of our commitment to bioethanol and biodiesel, Tokheim has also been extremely active in other alternative fuel sectors. We have partnered with our

customers to provide Hydrogen, LPG and CNG dispensers throughout Europe. Othersolutions such as our AdBlue dispensers have proven extremely popular with both

our multinational and independent customers. We are also conscious of beingable to provide our clients with future technologies such as electric vehicle

chargers – we launched the Tokheim Electric Vehicle Charger at Automechanika in 2010. We have recently completed a detailed study

of the alternative fuels marketplace that we intend to share with ourcustomers later this year.

• Can be blended with Gasoline (e.g. E10, E85)• Hygroscopic (attracts water), thus is highly

corrosive• Reacts with elastomers and steel, thus impacts

on material compatibility• Alcohols are solvents frequently used as

cleaners• Ethanol will dissolve deposits in fuel tanks and

fuel lines. This requires improved filtration and more frequent filter cleaning or replacement

• E85: different summer and winter characteristics

• Winter: lower Ethanol levels (55 to 75%) to avoid “cold start” problems

Bio-ethanol Characteristics

• Can be blended with regular fossil diesel (B100)

• Better ignition and combustion characteristics• Attacks certain rubbers, elastomers and paints• Multiple ‘feed stocks’ possible:• Rapeseed: which can generally meet the

FAME standard (EN14214, used e.g. in Germany for B100)

• Animal fat, vegetable oil: cannot meet the FAME standard, because of their poor performance at low temperatures.

• Biodiesel has less favourable cold flow properties compared to conventional diesel.

• It has a lower energy density than diesel which requires larger fuel volumes (by ~8%)

Tokheim is pleased to announce that Fuel POS has been selected by Shell Brunei.Tokheim’s Fuel POS and back-office solution, Flow, will now be rolled out across

the company’s network of 39 stations after the completion of a successful 6-monthsof field-testing. The roll out is planned from June 2011 supported by Tokheim’s locally

appointed agent, Falah-Tek Sdn Bhd, who will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and support of

the Fuel POS and Flow back-office system. Shell Brunei is

a joint-venture between the Government of His Majesty the

Tokheim is pleased to announce a new partnership with Gunnebo to provide a closed cashhandling system to the fuel retailing market. SafePay - a unique closed cash-handling system that makes it easier, less expensive and much safer to handle cash in the retailenvironment. Easily integrated with Fuel POS, SafePay allows retailers to continue to accept cash as payment, but without it being exposed in the store or handled by employees. SafePay offers intelligent security, protecting against fraud and theft, eliminating unexplained cash discrepancies and saving time in the Back-Office.

Cash is still used in approximately 60% of all purchases on European forecourts. Closed cashhandling systems such as SafePay provide a number of key benefits including improving cash-flow, allowing cashiers more time to engage with customers, reducing cash handling administration, an improvement in the cash in transit process, plus an overall reduction in fraud.

SafePay Business CaseBy taking an example of a medium-sized service station, it is

clear why these types of solutions are becoming increasinglypopular, particularly in Europe. Recent research suggests‘Shrinkage’ accounts for around 0.5% of overall turnover inthe fuel-retailing environment. That’s a potential loss of€25,000 per annum that could be reduced through SafePay. A robbery costs €10,000 on averageoutside of the sum stolen due to sick days, increased staffing, store closures plus a reduction in salesin the immediate aftermath. This sum of course does not take into account any of the traumatic implications for staff and customers around robbery - Closed cash handling represent one of the onlysolutions that can help eliminate the chances of robbery. SafePay also has a knock-on benefit of reducing the number of Cash in Transit collections by almost a half. For many service stations this

would represent a €4,500 saving per annum. Additional savings in the reduction in cash reconciliation and the floats would save an additional€3,000 in labour costs over the course of the year. In effect, an average service station (without a robbery) would expect to see a savingof €32,500 per year with the introduction of a closed cash handling system.

SafePay launched to help reduce cash lossesin the service station industry

SmartFuel, launched at Automechanika at the end of 2010, has quickly establisheditself as the ‘must-have’ application for both the retail and commercial fleet mar-

kets. The vehicle identification system hasbeen chosen for projects in four countries in Europe, underlining its ability to deliver practicalbenefits to fuel retailing, transport, and commercial fleetcompanies. SmartFuel has been successfully installed in the UK,Italy, Lithuania and The Netherlands. SmartFuel is Tokheim’s automated refuelling system that incorporates fuel

payment based on vehicle identification. Wireless, cashless, cardless, and paperless,SmartFuel provides a revolutionary refuelling solution that aims to eliminate fraud and provides an

excellent management tool for fleet and oil companies.

Unmanned ServiceStations in Ireland areno longer a pipe dream. They’re here and theyare set to revolutionisethe way motorists refueland the way fuel retailersrun their businesses. Changes to draconian legislation at the end oflast year have opened upthe way for forecourt businesses to develop the unmanned model in close consultation with their local fire officers.Tokheim, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of fuel dispensing and retail automationequipment, has been a pioneer in developing the technology across Europe. Its local division,Tokheim Ireland, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with GreatGas to launch the firsttruly unmanned station. The site not only sells petrol and diesel 24 hours a day, it also sellsfood and drinks via an automated vending system; all of which is monitored by CCTV and environmental software solutions.

Paul Farren, Tokheim Ireland, General Manager says, “It has taken a lot of hard work to getto this point. We have been in consultation with the banks, credit card companies and the le-gislator to help provide a viable unmanned solution. Working closely with our customer, Gre-atGas, we developed a solution that is not only profitable but one that is safe and secure forthe public. This all culminated in the local fire officer giving the go ahead for the first fully unmanned site of its kind selling petrol and diesel.”

The first unmanned service station opened at GreatGas, Old Airport Road Service Stationin Santry Dublin 9. One of the key factors has been the change in law regarding the dis-pensing of petroleum on an unmanned site in late 2010. GreatGas then liaised withthe local Dublin Fire Officer who has approved it as the first site in Ireland to sell petroland diesel fuel unmanned.

Ray O’Sullivan, Managing Director of GreatGas, explained, “We’re of course delighted to be the first to launch this concept in Ireland. Our philosophy is quite

clear – reduced fuelling times, overheads and fuel prices resulting in more happycustomers. Safety and security is paramount on the site; we have 24 hour

monitoring via CCTV and a security firm, as well as the latest environmentalmanagement systems on site. People cannot drive off without paying

for the fuel as payment is first authorised by the bank on their debit or credit card.”

So how does Tokheim’s Unmanned solution work?

Tokheim has developed this solution already across Europe, with an estimated20,000 forecourt payment terminals across the continent. Farren says, “We always said that what differentiates Tokheim Ireland as a business isthat we can develop our global products in a way that’s right for our markethere. In partnership with our R&D teams in the Benelux we were the first innovators of EMV or ‘Chip and Pin’ outdoor payment in Ireland. Because ofthe research work done elsewhere we now have PCI compliance until 2020– that means the products we sell today are future-proofed for tomorrow. The Tokheim Group has been providing a total solution for unmanned stationsfor years – we’ve developed this expertise to suit the marketplace here so that all local legislative, compliance and connectivity requirements are satisfied.”

Tokheim provides a complete solution to the station from assistance with legislative paperwork, right through to the installation and servicing of all theequipment. On the GreatGas site, Tokheim supplied its Quantium dispenserswith integrated payment terminals. It is a beautifully engineered multiproduct dispenser that is packed with features such as Tokheim’s Crypto VGApayment system. The Crypto VGA is the industry’s only touchscreen payment solution that clearly guides the customer through the complete transactionprocess. Tokheim controls all fuel retailing operations via a central forecourt controller – this is the heart of the operation. It controls the environmentalsystems, links to the CCTV solution and also allows for the pole sign to be changed remotely.

What are the Benefits of Unmanned?

GreatGas aims to roll out this model across the country in the coming year. The new model not only allows motorists to fuel quicker without havingto pay at the shop but it also has the added benefit of reduced overheads for GreatGas who then pass this on to their customers. In addition, theSantry station is open 24/7 365 days a year which is very convenient for early/late flights to and from Dublin airport as well as for those customersfilling up before returning their rental cars. Another unforeseen benefit for parents is that they can keep an eye on their children at all times and don’thave the hassle of having to take them out of the car just to pay for fuel.

Farren says that Tokheim are currently working with a number of other clients to develop the unmanned solution elsewherein the country. He says, “We’re quite far down the road with one of Ireland’s largest oil companies in launching

a similar type of concept across a number of their sites. What is also very interesting is the conversationswe’re having with dealers who are looking at using this concept during the night so that they can remain

open and selling fuel 24 hours. We’ve had many enquiries from small service stations on the brink ofclosure; they can see that this is as a business model could potentially save their business.”

Unmanned is not for everyone though?

So what about stations who are making all their money from their shop, why should they care aboutunmanned. Farren says, “they shouldn’t care about unmanned, but they should consider

pay@pump.”

As the Irish forecourt network continues to shrink, pressure on the remaining sites will undoubtedlymount and motorists will face increasingly long queues unless retailers install more outdoor payment

systems. Farren says ,“For motorists, a very busy site with a successful shop can have forecourt congestionwhich reduces the opportunity to sell fuel because people are parking at the pump and going into the shop, which

keeps the pump occupied. By using technology to complement their business, retailers can reduce congestion to give those customers in a hurry aconvenient option, and the retailer can focus on serving those customers who want to spend time in the shop. Fast lanes dedicated to pay@pumpis also a simple but effective way for busy sites not to have customers driving away because their forecourt is jammed."

Payment Terminals, as well a Forecourt Controllers with an Electronic PaymentServer - eCIS including its associated hardware.

Helene Ziese, Key Account Manager at Tokheim says, "Tokheim's Fuel POS solution was successfully developed to meet the local requirements in Norwayas well as Shell global standards. What sets Fuel POSapart is the level of integration with other systems on

a forecourt, combined with a high level of security andsophistication in its host services and data communication

platform. The EPOS is one of the sectors most advanced solutions, providing additional, specialist functionality such as forecourt control, wetstock management, integrated CCTV,C-store management plus advanced loyalty and marketing programmes."

"The Norwegian network we are supplying this solution to will be benefiting from thelatest technology in outdoor payment. The Crypto VGA has the highest security standardsin the industry and it was the first terminal to be compliant to PCI UPT POI V3, which isvalid until 2020. The system is remarkable as it has a revolutionary touchscreen interfacethat provides an extremely dynamic and user-friendly experience for motorists."

Alongside the supply of the systems, Tokheim is also providing Level 3 support on this project.

In the Spanish market there are about 1.500 Cooperativas Agrícolas. These are groupsof smaller (agricol) companies that work together to optimise on cost structures. Some of these companies also have shared networks of stations on which both Cooperativas Agrícolas members as well as the general public can fill their vehicles.

Over the course of the last year, Tokheim Spain has successfully started the introduction of Tokheim systems on these sites. Typically, Tokheim supplies our customer with forecourt controllers as well as outdoor payment solutions.

The payment solutions have been certified to accept all major credit and debitcards in the Spanish market as well as the Agricole Diesel cards and third

party fuel cards.

The flexibility of the system and configuration possibilities have provento be a good starting point for further growth of Tokheim systems

in the segment of fuel delivery addressed by the Agricole Cooperativas.

At the end of February 2011, at the International Forecourt and Fuel Equipment show, Tokheim releasedtheir new Flow Web product to the UK dealer market. It was met with a very positive reception andthere are now over 100 stations subscribing to the service.Flow Web is a secure, real-time data warehouse that allows petrol retailers to access their company-wide sales and margin data from any internet-enabled device. It provides powerful web-based reportingfunctionality along with real-time alerts to help retailers monitor the performance of their businessesmore effectively.Flow Web is able to form a lightweight head office system out of stations that run different systemsplatforms and it can also provide industry wide reporting and benchmarking. Of its many features, these are two of the most important for the UK dealer market.Flow Web is a subscription service which allows customers to set up their stations themselves and then download all of the necessary training documents. This leads to a very low cost of deployment and both the business model and proposition haveproved particularly popular with the premium end of the UK dealer market.

Tokheim is pleased to announce new EMV certification in both Spain and the United Kingdom. The certifications cover Tokheim’s indoor solutions, Crypto IPT and Fuel POS, and the

outdoor payment system, Crypto VGA.

In Spain, Tokheim successfully completed the approval process with Crypto VGA forthe acceptance of EMV Visa and Mastercard. Based on the Spanish EMV protocolPUC Tokheim implemented individual links with all three Spanish processors: 4B,Euro6000 and Sermepa. These processors are linked to the Spanish banks, which

means that any customer in Spain can be linked to their bank. This equates to an almost 100 % coverage for outdoor EMV bank card acceptance in the country.

In the UK, Tokheim recently acquired an additional American Express EMV certificate for boththeir indoor and outdoor chip & pin solution. Previously Tokheim has achieved successful APACS approvals in the UK for EMVVisa and Mastercard acceptance. 99% of all major credit and debit as well as fuel cards can be accepted through the systemsof Tokheim now that all these approvals are in place.

Kurt Dillen, General Manager of the Tokheim Systems & Electronics Business Unit, says, “The purpose of EMV certification isto ensure interoperability between EMV cards, terminals and the authorising and switching host systems, not only within agiven market but internationally. By having EMV certification for our Fuel POS and Crypto VGA systems, Tokheim are delivering this interoperability for our customers. The latest certifications mean that clients selecting our systems have a securesolution that is future-proofed for years to come.”

EMV certification is an extremely important factor in selecting the correct POS and payment supplier. According toAmerican Express, “The card industry has a strong interest in certification to uphold the following tenants of theindustry: 1. Delivering confidence to merchants and card members that transactions by chip and pin (EMV)

will work as expected. 2. To deliver interoperability so that cards issued in one part of the world successfully complete transactions in POS terminals or merchant POS

systems in another part of the world. 3. To provide future proofing for the card issuer.”
