Toys for Tots
Looking for a way to give back? Each
December, Mansfield ISD partners with
the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to host
a community-wide Toys for Tots event
to benefit less fortunate children in the DFW area. Our schools, local businesses, and city
departments come together at the Mansfield ISD Center for the Performing Arts to display
the true spirit of giving in our community.
The event kicks off each year with a student and staff parade, followed by activities such as
a snow tubing hill, a live reindeer exhibit, photos with Santa, crafts, food trucks, and dozens
of student performances.
Thanks to the generosity of the MISD community, this spectacular event has become the
largest Toys for Tots collection event in the metroplex. Since the inaugural event in 2012,
more than 60,000 toys and $30,000 have been donated to the cause. Please visit
center.mansfieldisd.org to find out more about the 2015 Toys for Tots event and lots of
other exciting things happening at the Center for the Performing Arts.
Senior Tour
Each spring, we invite senior citizens from across our community to take an inside look at
the day-to-day operations of Mansfield ISD. The Senior Tour provides an opportunity for our
guests to step inside the classroom to witness just how much education has changed over
the years.
On the 2015 tour, the group visited schools and facilities on the eastern edge of the district.
The hosts at each tour site really rolled out the red carpet and provided a warm MISD
welcome. Guests enjoyed an action-packed day filled with special performances, interactive
programs, and a close-up look at many of the fantastic things happening in our schools.
Multicultural Festival
Did you know there are over 100 languages spoken in
Mansfield ISD? As our district continues to grow and flourish, we
invite our community to join us in celebrating our diverse culture.
The Multicultural Festival is a district-wide collaborative event
that brings volunteers from every school and department together
to showcase the district from a global view.
Each year, thousands of community members join us for family-friendly activities, delicious food, games, exhibits, and
student performances. This event is an opportunity to showcase many of our points of pride, such as Athletics, Fine Arts,
Advanced Academics, Robotics, Culinary Arts, and more!

HB5/Career Tech/Endorsements
Mansfield ISD introduced the Future You program which guides
students along the path to their college or career in conjunction with the
requirements of House Bill 5.
Through the Future You Program, students are required to graduate with
one of five endorsements. An endorsement is much like a major in
college, and MISD is proud to be one of the few districts to offer all five
endorsements including Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
(STEM), Business and Industry, Arts and Humanities, Public Service
and Multidisciplinary.
Eighth grade students are introduced to the endorsement options
through Career Cruising, a program that gives them a chance to test out
multiple careers before deciding on their path for high school.
Through the several programs offered at Ben Barber Career Tech
Academy and our close partnerships with local higher education
institutions, the students of Mansfield ISD have a wide array of
opportunities to set themselves up for success in the future. For more
information on the Future You Program, please visit our website at
mansfieldisd.org/futureyou.

past school year:
Two seniors were selected from 1.5 million entrants nationwide to receive the prestigious National Merit Scholarship
Students in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) organization won first place at the national competition

Apple Distinguished Program
The Mansfield ISD Power Up Program has
been recognized as an Apple Distinguished
Program for 2014 – 2016 for its ground-
breaking use of innovative and inspiring
teaching methods. The district’s program
launched in the fall semester of 2012 with
the distribution of over 10,000 iPad
devices to MISD high school teachers and
students and continued in 2014 – 2015 with
the distribution of 5,000 iPad devices to
middle school students across the district.
The Apple Distinguished Program
designation is reserved for programs that
meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and
educational excellence, and demonstrate
a clear vision of exemplary learning
environments.
We Hire the Best
Mansfield ISD is privileged to be known as
a destination school district not only for
students, but staff as well. Our district is
committed to recruiting, hiring, and
maintaining a superior staff to foster a
culture of mutual respect, innovation, and
achievement in all MISD schools.
We make it a priority to support the growth
and development of staff by providing
programs such as KEEPS (Knowledge-based
Encounters Ensuring Professional Success).
This program has been instrumental in
providing a comprehensive support system
for incoming teachers.
Graduation Statistics
For 13 years, students come to class
with one ultimate goal in mind – walking
the stage at their high school graduation.
Each year, this dream is realized as
another bright group of seniors takes
the stage at the MISD Center for the
Performing Arts for their graduation
ceremony. The class of 2015 graduated
2,326 total seniors and they racked up an
impressive 30.6 million dollars in
total scholarships.
Advanced AcademicsTo help students invest in their future, Mansfield ISD is proud to provide students with a variety of advanced academic courses, programs, and competitions that appeal to varied interests, experiences, and educational goals. Participating in one or more advanced academic opportunities allows students to explore their talents while increasing personal growth and achievement.
Starting in 5th grade, students can begin taking any of our 31 Pre-AP courses offered
We offer 35 college-level Advanced Placement (AP) courses for high school students (This includes seven foreign languages: Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Latin, Spanish Language, and Spanish Literature)
53% of MISD students (grades 5 – 12) enrolled in at least one Pre-AP or AP course
More than 4,800 AP tests were taken by high school students
The SAT/ACT Summer Institute offers intensive preparation for college-bound students
Dual CreditDid you know that during the 2014 – 2015 school year MISD high school juniors
and seniors earned 11,389 college credit hours through our partnerships with the
Tarrant County College District and the University of Texas at Arlington?
The partnership with TCC is what MISD has named the iStart Program. Through
the iStart Program, MISD students have the opportunity to earn up to 48 college
credit hours, which would place them halfway through their sophomore year of
college before they even graduate from high school.
The opportunities through UTA include dual credit courses in criminal justice
and engineering.
Students in the program benefit by getting a head start while parents can rest
assured that their students are getting a higher level education for a portion of
the price.
Adult CoursesMansfield ISD believes in the idea of cultivating life-long learners. In 2015, MISD
began offering Adult Education Courses. Our goal is to offer courses for the
community that will be affordable, fun, and encourage personal growth. So far,
we have offered courses including culinary and baking techniques, outdoor and
campfire cooking, and multiple levels of iPad mastery.
MISD plans to add even more Adult Education courses in the upcoming school
year. For more information on offered courses and to register for upcoming
courses, please visit mansfieldisd.org/adulteducation.
