KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR FOR MIS
The primary goal of computer based information systems should be the
processing of data generated by business operations. MIS shouldassemble, process , store , Retrieve , evaluate and Disseminate the
information.
MIS should facilitate planning : MIS improves the quality of plans by
providing relevant information for sound decision maing. MIS change the
larger amount of data in to summari!ed form and thus avoids the
confusion "hich may arise "hen managers are #ooded "ith detailed facts
MIS should encourages decentrali!ation: Decentrali!ation of authority is
possibly "hen there is a system for monitoring operations at lo"er levels
MIS should bring $o %ordination: MIS facilities integration of speciali!ed
activities by eeping each department a"are of the problem and
requirements of other departments. It connects all decision centers in the
organi!ation
MIS should mae control easier : MIS serves as a lin bet"een managerial
planning and control. It improves the ability of management to evaluate
and improve performance
MIS is a reporting tool that should provides quic access to summari!ed
reports coming from all levels and departments. Some of the reports are:
&. Scheduled reports'. (ey indicator report). *n Demand report+. -ception reports
The information presented should be understandable: Since information isalready in a summari!ed form, it must be understood by the receiver so
that he "ill interpret it correctly
The information presented should be relevant: Information is good only if
it is relevant. This means that it should be pertinent and meaningful to the
decision maer and should be in his area of responsibility.

Information should be Timely: Information must be delivered at the right time
and the right place to the right person. remature information can become
obsolete or be forgotten by the time it is actually needed.
