Abhijit Nandi,
fotógrafo de la India
Después de estudiar cine y medios de comunicación como temas auxiliares
en calidad de estudiante universitario, Abhijit Nandi hizo su maestría
en lengua bengalí y literatura en la Universidad de Jadavpur.
Su reconocimiento nacional e internacional incluye WAN IFRA for Asian
Geographic, Fotógrafo del año 2006, concurso de fotografía WHO, Premios
Nacionales de 2006, Fotógrafo del Medio Ambiente del 2008, Festimage
2008 y Premio Spider (deporte) 2011, para nombrar sólo unos pocos.
Sus fotografías han sido expuestas en todo el mundo y adquiridas por las
galerías para su colección permanente.
Abhijit Nandi tiene su sede en Kolkata (Calcuta), India.
Rostros de la Multitud es una serie de retratos sobre todo de la gente común en las fiestas religiosas en la India. Sólo gente común, sin
identidad. Trató de entender la identidad de estas personas a través de
fotografías. Quería grabar su dolor, sufrimiento, felicidad, alegría a través
de las fotografías. Y sin duda logró.

After studying film and media as subsidiary subjects as an undergraduate,
Abhijit Nandi went on to do his Master degree in Bengali Language and
Literature from Jadavpur University.
His national and international recognition includes WAN IFRA for Asian
Geographic, Photographer of the year 2006, WHO photo contest, National
Awards 2006, Environmental photographer of the year 2008, Festimage 2008
and Spider Award ( sport) 2011, to name only a few. His photographs
exhibited around the world and acquired by galleries for their permanent
collection. Abhijit Nandi is based in Kolkata, (Calcutta) India.
Faces from the Crowd is a series of mainly portraits of the common people he met at religious festivals in India. Just common people, with no identity.
He tried to understand these people's identity through photographs. He
wanted to record their sorrow, suffering, happiness, joy through the
photographs. And he certainly achieved.
