Mira Connect is the smart control appliance that does not require programming for a professionally designed control system. Mira Connect supports an ever-growing list of equipment from major manufacturers.

Example SystemApplication: Video Conferencing

This is an example system application and description.

How to Interpret the Application DiagramsMira Connect controls multiple devices in the room including displays, video switchers, hard and soft video codecs, digital signal processing (DSP) systems, and more. Each system drawing shows typical equipment installations and describes how Mira Connect operates in the room. If equipment does not support Ethernet control, a Global Cache IP to serial interface can be used to convert an RS-232 interface to a network interface.

Mira Connect controls the video source selection and power status for one or more displays directly or through a video switcher.

Mira Connect launches video calls, starts content sharing, positions cameras, and more. Soft and legacy codecs are supported.

Optional IP to serial interface available for devices that require RS-232 control.

Mira Connect manages audio in the room, including dialing telephone calls, adjusting volume, controlling microphones, enabling sound reinforcement, audio overflow rooms, assistive listening, and more. A DSP may have a separate network connection for VoIP.

Mira Connect uses a PoE network connection for power and a DHCP server to get an IP address.

Mira Portal access is required via the WAN (wide area network) for set up, firmware updates, and remote management features. WAN access required for Office 365 calendar and Zoom Rooms.

Presentation System with Video SwitcherApplication: Presentation

The display is used in the room for local presentation and audio playback. Local participants can share content and control source selection and room volume. A video switcher provides more options for inputs and connector formats. Mira Connect controls the source selection of the video switcher, display source selection, display power, and display volume settings.

The DSP audio system performs microphone processing, acoustic echo cancellation, and interfaces to the telephone line (VoIP or PSTN). Many DSP’s (e.g., Shure, Bose, Symetrix, QSC, Biamp) offer native Dante integration with array microphones.

Zoom Rooms Video CodecApplication: Video Conferencing

The Zoom Rooms codec runs on a dedicated PC in the room and is used for microphone processing, volume management, and video conferencing calls. Mira Connect controls the Zoom Room PC securely to launch calls from the Zoom directory, calendar invites, or direct dial.

This system has a single display for content and video conferencing display. The microphone(s) are connected directly to the Zoom Rooms PC.

Zoom Rooms Video Codec with a DSP with TelephonyApplication: Video and Audio Conferencing

The Zoom Room video codec runs on a dedicated PC in the room and interfaces to a DSP for audio processing for better audio quality for the local and remote participants. A telephony interface makes it easy to add participants over PSTN or VoIP. Mira Connect controls the Zoom Room PC securely and can launch calls from the Zoom directory, calendar invites, or direct dial.

This system has a display for content and video conferencing and uses a DSP for mute, volume control, and telephony.

Soft Codec, USB Camera, Extron Switcher, and DSP AudioApplication: Video and Audio Conferencing

The dedicated Room PC runs a soft codec (Skype for Business, Zoom Rooms, BlueJeans, or others). A DSP audio system and camera system can be integrated directly to the PC or through a USB switcher. An Extron video switcher easily supports a guest laptop and by linking an Extron USB switcher to the video switcher using the contact closure outputs of the video switcher to the contact inputs on the USB switcher as shown in this diagram, connecting outputs 1 and 2 from the video switcher to the inputs 1 and 2 on the USB switcher. Mira Connect controls the audio and video source selection, and the USB port selection follows the video switcher. Mira Connect controls the display, the video switcher, and DSP including volume, mute, and telephony functions.

Soft Codec, USB Camera, Video and USB Switchers, and DSP AudioApplication: Video and Audio Conferencing

A dedicated Room PC runs a soft codec (Microsoft Teams, Zoom Rooms, BlueJeans, or others) that may require a keyboard and a mouse for navigating the user interface of the soft codec. A DSP audio system and camera system can be integrated directly to the PC or through a USB switcher. A video switcher easily supports a guest laptop and with a USB switcher the room peripherals can be switched to different computers. Mira Connect controls the audio and video source selection, and the USB port selection. Mira Connect controls the display, the video switcher, USB switcher, and DSP including volume, mute, telephony functions, and if the soft codec supports an application programming interfac, Mira Connect may be able to control the soft codec directly.

Getting Started with Mira ConnectTo configure the Mira Connect to control the systems in the application diagrams, follow these next steps:

1. Create a Mira Portal Account: https://mira.aveosystems.com .

2. Follow the introduction tutorial in Mira Portal to add an organization, site, and room.

3. Use the Mira Connect UI Preview feature outlined in our blog post: https://aveosystems.com/mira-connect-ui-preview to view the user interface as you add equipment to the room.

4. Add equipment to the room and see the user interface get created.

5. For information about supported features or how to integrate the device, see the equipment integration documents at https://aveosystems.com/equipment.

6. Watch the training videos on https://aveosystems.com/training for adding a DSP audio device and/or video codec.

7. Customize the Visual Theme at for your site by uploading a background image and logo.

8. Start using the Mira Connect control appliance. Be sure to try the Remote Control capability from Mira Portal. Select the room and the Remote Control button is on the lower left of the window.

9. Enjoy the time and money you’ve saved by using Mira Connect.
