Moved by Ms. Dolan, seconded by Mr. Vellon, to open Public Participation.
Remarks by Citizens – ANY ITEM (Public Participation Session 2):
Michael Sheldon: Do you have a ballpark estimate for the referendum? (Mr. Egan: No not yet.) Hopefully
OFAC report will be made public in the next month. (Mr. Egan: OFAC will be made public on State
website.) Noted nothing about hiring district council on the agenda. Claimed a former board attorney is on
staff at Schwartz, Simon and Edelstein. Requested again that teachers use the website donorschoose.org.
Arlene Schor: What is the Belleville Learning Academy on agenda? (Dr. Tomko: New program started by
Business Technology department. Students becoming teachers with technology.) Noticed two science
teachers short in September. Suggested district partner with another school district as science teachers are
difficult to come by. Curriculum revisions are a dynamic situation, chance for real improvement.
Vincent Frantantoni: Looking forward to reading OFAC report. With 62 Bella Vista lease up district should
look into getting back School #1 property. Plenty of room for buses to be kept on that property. Would like
to see more trade courses brought back to the district. Not all students go to college. Asked that board
comments be moved ahead of the last citizen’s comments.
GeorgeAnn Polite: Asked about water issues and repairs to buildings. Belleville Athletic Alumni
Association donated a new weight room to the district, is this gift in jeopardy of not becoming a reality?
Michael Mignone: Commends board for moving forward. Wonderful to see board and teachers working
together. Have never seen teachers and administrators sitting together on interview process. Very positive!
BEA are stakeholders in this district. Thank you for the opportunity.
Moved by Mr. Vellon, seconded by Mr. Grolimond, to close Public Participation
Items, Remarks and Committee Reports presented by Board Members.
Ms. Lopez: Congratulations to the recipients of the Perfect Attendance awards. Very nice of superintendent
to recognize them.

Mr. Barrera: Great to see so many people attending the meeting. The board is slowly accomplishing the
tasks at hand. Congratulations to tonight’s award winners. Thank you to Darius for his quick action. Thank
you to Rich Henry for taking them through the buildings to work on priorities of what needs to be done.
Ms. Dolan: Thank you to stakeholders involved in interviewing and hiring new Middle School principal
and Athletic director. Congratulations to employees for perfect attendance. Wish class of 2017 no rain and
lots of luck!
Mr. Grolimond: Congratulations Class of 2017. Students are getting smarter and smarter. Thank you to
public for participating. Have a great summer.
Mr. Graziano: Thank you for coming to the meeting. Nice to see everyone working together. When we all
work together we will accomplish great things. Have a great summer.
Mr. Vellon: Thank you to all honorees. Rewarding to see all the progress district is making. Would like to
see School #1 property back in the hands of the district. Commends Mike Mignone for acknowledging that
he misled board, says a lot about a person. The work is never done. Board must remain diligent. Must fight
for what we believe is right for children. Have a wonderful summer.
Mrs. Lamparello: Congratulations to perfect attendance award winners, varsity athletes and Class of 2017.
Mr. Edelstein: In answer to public accusation, no one in their firm was ever charged with a felony. No
criminal charges have ever been brought against firm.
Moved by Mr. Vellon, seconded by Ms. Lopez, the Board passed resolution to adjourn public meeting and
return to closed session by a vote of 7-0. No action will be taken.
