Mission Statement
The Mission of St Augustine/St Joseph Cluster is to provide a spiritual environment and resources where people
may gather to hear the Word proclaimed. As a cluster, we celebrate the Eucharist, the sacraments, and provide
the members of all ages the opportunity to grow in the practice of their faith, learning how to fully keep God’s
commandments as Christ taught us, by loving God and our neighbors.

Daily Masses and Intentions
Did you know . . .
The original ceiling in church
was flat and had pillars
throughout its middle?
In 1899 the parishioners decided
they didn’t like the pillars,
removed the roof and began
construction on the barrel ceiling.
In 1957 it was necessary to change
the roof again due to leaks and
improper location of the flues.
During this renovation the barrel
ceiling included the addition of 5
self supporting steel trusses
arches, not an easy feat for a
church of such dimensions.

Third Sunday of Lent ~ Mar 7–8
Reading I : Exodus 20:1-17
Keep my commandments.
• In every covenant, there are laws, duties, and responsibilities that must be followed.
• The Ten Commandments express the central law of the covenant made on Mt. Sinai.
• They outline the characteristic relationships with God and with neighbor.
Reading II : 1 Corinthians 1:22-25
Christ is the power of God.
• Signs are an important part of Israelʹs theology, as Paul notes in todayʹs passage.
• In Israelʹs life, signs always convey the message of the presence and power of God.
• For those who can see, Christ is the ultimate sign of the presence and power of God.
Gospel : John 2:13-25
In three days, I will raise it up.
• For Israel the temple is a sign of the presence of God.
• Jesus cleanses the sign because it is no longer conveying the message.
• Another message is added, ʺDestroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.ʺ Jesus transfers the sign
of Godʹs presence from the temple to his own body, raised from death.
Question for Youth: Jesus was angry – as we all get at times. When is your anger a good thing? When is it not?
Question for Adults: As you hear the Commandments proclaimed today, which one of them really strikes you?

Lindsey are giving hope to young women who have been rescued from
