SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH – 10:00 AMAM ITAYUS INITIATION BY VEN. LAMA DORJE GYALTSEN (AT MN SAKYA CENTER)Buddha Amitayus is also known as the Buddha of Boundless Life. He is regarded as Buddha Amitabha appearing as a deity of longevity. Following the initiation, Ven. Lama Dorje Gyaltsen will talk about how to develop and strengthen our faith and prayers.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH – 10:00 AMGREEN TARA AND VAJRAP ANI INITIATIONS B Y VEN. LAM A DORJE GYALTSEN (AT MN SAKYA CENTER)In Sanskrit, Tara literally means “liberation.” The Buddhas’ main activity is to liberate beings from their suffering, and all of the Buddhas’ holy activities are manifested as the female Bodhisattva Tara. Being a combination of colors, green symbolizes the multiplicity of Tara’s activities, including healing, increasing prosperity, subjugation of opponents and the destruction of negative forces. Vajrapani guards the tantra and removes obstacles to Dharma practice. In the Sakya tradition, meditators usually undertake their fi rst extended retreat upon Vajrapani.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH STARTING AT 10:30 AMHIS HOLINESS SAKYA TRIZIN BIRTHDAY AND THE GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION (AT TAFM)Please come and join us in a day-long celebration of His Holiness Sakya Trizin’s birthday and the Golden Jubillee - the 50th anniversary of His Holiness’ enthronement as Sakya Trizin. In honor of that signifi cant milestone, and in order to request His Holiness’ long life, good health, and the accomplishment of his noble activities, Ven. Kalsang Gyaltsen and Ven. Lama Dorje Gyaltsen will lead Three Long Life Deities (Amitayus, White Tara, and Unishavijaya) ritual, and incense ritual in the morning. Following lunch, video of His Holiness Sakya Trizin’s noble activities will be shown, and special celebration ceremony will start at 3:30 PM that includes His Holiness advice from India for this special occassion. Delicious buffet Lunch and Dinner will be hosted by our Tibetan members and friends.

Lama Dorje Gyaltsen will lead the daily Green Tara Puja at the MN Sakya Center on Mondays to Fridays at 8:30am, and Sundays at 9am (Please come and experience this beautiful ritual that Ven. Lama Dorje Gyaltsen has performed daily for more than 4 decades.) Also, if you wish to have Ven. HIS HOLINESS THE SAKYA TRIZINHis Holiness the Sakya Trizin is the 41st head of the Sakya Order of Tibetan Buddhism, and a member of Tibet’s noble Khon family. He is also a descendent of the fi ve great masters who founded the Sakya Order during the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Of his teaching, great lamas and scholars have said that even if the fi ve Sakya founders themselves were to manifest and teach the Dharma, there is no aspect in which they could improve upon the Sakya Trizin’s teaching. His Holiness the Sakya Trizin is the emanation of Manjushri, the manifestation of all the Buddhas’ transcendent wisdom. In addition to his leadership of the Sakya Order, His Holiness the Sakya Trizin is renowned throughout the world for the great brilliance and clarity of his teachings and his fl uency and precise command of English.

VENERABLE LAMA DORJE GYALTSENVen. Lama Dorje Gyaltsen is one of the most senior Sakya lamas in the US. His dedication to the Dharma and steadfast perseverance are widely known and respected. Born in Menyak, Tibet, he was trained as a monk at Sakya Monastery in Tibet and received extensive training in sutra and tantra from many Sakya masters. From 1983 to 2003, Lama Dorje performed excellent service as the resident lama of the Singapore Sakya Center, successfully carrying out the wishes of His Holiness. In 2003, at the request of Ven. Lama Kalsang, His Holiness appointed Lama Dorje to come to the US to assist in establishing Tsechen Kunchab Ling.

VENERABLE KHENPO KALSANG GYALTSENBorn in Tibet, Ven. Khenpo Kalsang Gyaltsen is learned in sutra and tantra and has spent long periods in meditative retreat. He received ordination and advanced religious training from many great teachers of the Sakya Tradition. For the past three decades, he has taught Dharma in the US and Southeast Asia. He is also very active in translating Dharma into English and has translated many books on Buddhist philosophy, prayers, and rituals. In 1986, he established Sakya Phuntsok Ling in Silver Spring, Maryland. In April 2001, he established Tsechen Kunchab Ling in Walden, NY as the Seat of the His Holiness the Sakya Trizin in the US. As Vice President of TKL, he has taken primary responsibility for the temple’s development and ongoing management, under the blessing and guidance of His Holiness.
