God tells the people in Haggai 2:4-9, “…Work, for I am with you, declares the Lord of hosts, according to the covenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not. For thus says the Lord of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land. And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the Lord of hosts. The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, declares the Lord of hosts.” God’s decree is given to a generation who were commanded to rebuild the new temple (Ezra 1:2-4) but failed to finish the job. Yet, what I appreciate about God’s words are how inspirational they are. The people can work with hope knowing God is going to “shake the nations” by filling his house with his glory once again. This encourages me, because even though the Israelites were small in number, they served a mighty God. The Holy Spirit is reminding me of this great truth daily. We may be small in number, but we serve a mighty God who is doing a remarkable work at Crestview Baptist. We had over three hundred people attend our Easter Festival in April, and they were blessed by hearing the good news of Jesus Christ. At our last business meeting, a new Children and Youth Ministry Policy and Procedure was passed, so our children and youth can have a safe place to worship at Crestview Baptist. Finally, in July, we’re having a five-day Vacation Bible School, and we’re praying for God to send an abundant of children to hear about the salvation his precious son, Jesus, provides for all us. Good things are happening at Crestview Baptist Church, and our God isn’t done yet. If anything, he’s just getting started!
Working with hope,
Pastor Josh
