INTEGRITY MONITORING SYSTEMInspections are a crucial part of any equipment preventive maintenance regime. They must be conducted not only to achieve peace of mind but also to maintain contractual rights to claim warranties. We combine our extensive experience with the latest technologies. We‘ve developed a new inspection process called the Integrity Monitoring System, which combines our understanding of design calculations and criteria and machine usage factors with application knowledge and global references.Where “traditional“ manual inspections require thorough preparation before an inspector arrives on-site and the possible use of clumsy data “tick sheets,“ our new way of working requires only a download of the relevant inspection configuration and detailed procedures to a handheld device. Supported by server technology and an expert library of machine references, the handheld device doubles as an inspection tool and a navigation instrument when evaluating different phenomena and assessing mechanical, electrical and structural componentry. Coupled with RFIC or Bar coding an inspector can quickly identify inspection points and align parts recognition. This functionality enables an inspector to print an executive report while still on-site, which can help you address significant issues without losing time. The report can be signed and immediately uploaded so that we can begin ordering spare and wear parts, components or new services.

SERVICE SCOPEOur Integrity Monitoring System service can be ordered only in combination with our OEM-trained inspectors, who will execute the inspection. The process includes:• Arrival on-site with downloaded data onto a handheld device (Motion F5t) that is specific to your specific machine• Stopped and running inspection with specific focus on any customer-related issues• Immediate reporting and sign-off prior to the inspector leaving your site• Faster delivery of spare and wear parts and the setting up of future Sandvik services• Better machine data due to past inspections being “stored“ on the device

SERVICE VALUE ADDEDValue-added is above and beyond current manual base inspections. These values are known as the “FACTS“:• Follow-through - Required actions that are clearly reported, tracked in the system, and highlighted in subsequent

inspections. This system helps get things done.• Asset management - Supports benchmarking and tracking of multiple machines. This allows you to put money and

resources where best needed.• Consistency - Focuses on key potential issues with clearly defined criteria. This tool gives you unbiased and objective

information.• Transparency - Tells you exactly what is inspected and how. This tool shows immediately what is done and the net results.• Speed - Moves planning off-site to speed up the actual on-site inspection, with immediate reporting. Faster inspections

mean less lost production; faster reporting means issues can be addressed before affecting production.Although the value-added directly supports the maintenance department, it supports much broader objectives of maximizing production, benchmarking, and asset management. Each of your stakeholders will capture value from different components of the new inspection process.

PRICING BASEThis service is based on a fixed service fee per defined work scope.

ENGINEERING AUDIT AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSISThe aim of our Engineering Audit is to identify issues with regard to key mechanical and/or electrical components, particularly targeted because of the potential cost and lead time to replace them, the risk of severely wearing out or of unexpected failures in the near future. Likewise in our Structural Analysis, condition of any key structural elements must be targeted due to potential for future upgrade and refurbishment and not only because of their potential impact on machine integrity. Appropriate condition, respectively a sound structure, is the main bottleneck in any upgrade or refurbishment programs because the bearing structure needs to be able to support additional weight and forces. Our equipment integrity evaluation process is the second step in our Life Enhancement service program.

SERVICE SCOPEScope of our Engineering Audit includes:• Stress measurements (strain gauging, proof loading, etc.)• Physical tests (wall thickness, dye-penetrant, etc.)• Performance tests and evaluation (power consumption, motor rating, hydraulic, etc.)• Lifetime extension of estimation of TCO

Scope of our Structural/Mechanical Analysis includes:• Review of Sandvik equipment or re-modeling and re-calculation of other OEM equipment (FE-analysis including simulations,

upgrade options under all operational conditions, determination of overall limits and boundaries of the system, potential integration of state-of-the-art concepts, etc.)

• Fatigue life predictions• QC procedures, inspection sequences and maintenance instructions

Scope of the Control/Electrical audit:• Control and protective device audit• PLC audit• Main electrical component audit and review

A full written report related to the engineering audit together with structural analysis findings and recommendations will follow. The report findings should enable development of a third step where we can summarize all findings from previous steps into the Feasibility Study or Refurbishment/Upgrade Study.

You will be asked to support the auditing officer by:• Providing a shutdown window and personnel to isolate equipment and remove guards• Providing access to the machine with operator to operate the machine as directed• Providing a competent person to obtain data from the plant operating system• Informing the auditing officer of any changes to the machine or operating conditions since the last audit• Thoroughly cleaning the machine with high pressure and ensuring there is no material build-up• Providing men-lift, EWP, crane-basket or similar to access elevated structural/mechanical components which cannot be

safely and securely accessed by existing walkways, ladders and/or platforms

SERVICE VALUE ADDEDWe provide you:• A chance to tap into our unique OEM knowledge• A quick and easy way to obtain external feedback regarding how your system is performing• OEM audit of your equipment• Understanding of equipment original capacity and limitations for potential upgrade or refurbishment• Recommendation for QC and maintenance procedures • OEM support to justify new development budgets• A view into the solutions that Sandvik Customer Services can offer

OVERHAUL/REFURBISHMENT PROJECTOur Overhaul/Refurbishment projects apply only to your equipment in operation longer than 20 years. This is the final step in bringing your equipment to as-built condition, following a successful initial audit, engineering/structural audit and refurbishment study. We run the projects along the same processes as with new equipment, from engineering kickoff through final commissioning. As steel structure condition is the most critical factor for any refurbishment project, we utilize and refurbish as much of the existing structure as possible. We replace all other structural components with new components. Mechanical components will also be refurbished or replaced, while in most cases electrical components are replaced with new components. SERVICE SCOPEOur Overhaul/Refurbishment projects include all typical project phases and will be supervised by our experienced project managers. Standard phases include but are not limited to:• Project handover and kickoff• Basic engineering• Detail engineering• Fabrication (refurbish and new structure)• Procurement (mechanical and electrical components)• Transport to site• Erection on site• Supervision and commissioning During the project various upgrades and improvements may be added, However, an overhaul/refurbishment by itself will only restore the machine to its original state. All other potential requirements will need to be discussed separately before the beginning of the project.

SERVICE VALUE ADDEDWe provide you:• Our unique mining and material handling projects knowledge and experience• OEM feedback on equipment condition with special attention to steel structure condition and modification capabilities• Project business with vast experience and global support• Know-how for support during all stages of the project• Spare and wear parts support during entire life cycle • A view of the ideas and solutions that our Sandvik Customer Services team can offer

PRICING BASEThis service price is fixed per agreed project scope, project schedules, terms of delivery, terms of payment and other commercial conditions.

CAPACITY UPGRADE PROJECTBefore entering into any capacity upgrade discussion, certain steps must be understood as a base. While mechanical and electrical parts and components are more easily modified or replaced by state-of-the-art equipment, the main structural steel parts remain most valuable and must be approached with sensitivity. We recommend an initial audit, engineering/structural audit and upgrade study as your first step in increasing machine capacity. We run overhaul/refurbishment projects along the same processes as with new equipment, from engineering kickoff through final commissioning. The engineering stage is most critical, during which all existing machine limitations must be reviewed and resolved. SERVICE SCOPEOur Overhaul/Refurbishment projects include all typical project phases and will be supervised by our experienced project managers. Standard phases include but are not limited to:• Project handover and kickoff• Basic engineering• Detail engineering• Fabrication of steel structures• Procurement (mechanical and electrical components)• Transport to site• Erection on site with supervision and commissioning During such projects various upgrades and improvements must be executed with special attention to material flow on transfer points. This is the most critical area and bottleneck for any capacity upgrade to mining and material handling machines. SERVICE VALUE ADDED• Our unique mining and material handling projects knowledge and experience• OEM feedback on equipment condition with special attention to steel structure condition and modification capabilities• Extensive project business experience and global support• Know-how for support during all stages of the project• Spare and wear parts support during entire life cycle • A view of the ideas and solutions that our Sandvik Customer Services team can offer

ENGINEERING RISK ASSESSMENTEngineering risk assessments are complex procedures and the results (machine classification and dedicated calculations) will not only impact your system design but also your future maintenance efforts. Functional safety is the result of both mechanical and electrical components, PLC and software as well as operational parameters (formal safety level vs. availability). It is important that we discuss this topic with you in depth during the engineering process in order to meet the necessary safety requirements and to design and install a safe system accordingly.

SERVICE SCOPEThe performance of safety-related parts of an electrical system with respect to the occurrence of faults can be divided into categories. These categories can serve as reference points within which features that need be included into safety-related control elements can be considered. The following algorithm will be followed to evaluate and design your system:• Hazard analysis and risk assessment• Determining the requirements to reduce risk to the required levels• Specifying the safety requirements to be provided by the system• Design criteria of safety functions• Definition of design categories• Validation (review and approval)

SERVICE VALUE ADDED• Elevating machine safety standards to a higher level• Increasing productivity by improving safety• Building up your in-house safety culture• Sharing our unique OEM knowledge• External feedback regarding your EHS initiatives• Learning “best practices” through our global experience

PRICING BASEPrice is based on agreed scope and type of machine to be evaluated.

COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEMWe‘re implementing this system in cooperation with our technology partner indurad, which specializes in system solutions based on 2D-radar technology for mining systems. In the event of any critical collision scenario indicated based on the sensor data and a mathematical position model reflecting the movements of the mobile machines, the operator is alerted and machine movement is stopped via interlocking to the PLC. A GPS-system included in our scope provides position data to constantly update the mathematical model.

SERVICE SCOPECollision Avoidance Traveling - Realized by encoders and dedicated communication between the machines. In this case, parked cars or other objects along the travel way are not detected.

Collision Avoidance Slewing - Such movements are very frequent, and because of the location of the operator cabin at about half of the boom length and on the top of the structure, the operator is not able to see all blind spots. Using camera pictures could distract the operator from doing their job efficiently.

Collision Avoidance Luffing - Such movements are not so frequent, however they are still critical. There are similar blind spots, like in slewing, due to the location of the operator cabin at about half of the boom length or on the top of the structure. Using camera pictures will not provide precision position of the boom and it could distract the operator from doing their job efficiently.

Shiploader Automation (future option) - Operator assistance and, later, full automation of shiploaders can be realized based on the offered collision avoidance system. Several sensors as well as dedicated processing units are used for such a system upgrade.

SERVICE VALUE ADDED• Increasing productivity by improving safety• Building up your in-house safety culture• Upgrade possibility for full automated shiploading process• Sharing our unique OEM knowledge• External feedback regarding your EHS initiatives• Learning “best practices” through our global experience

PRICING BASEPrice is based on agreed scope and type of radar systems included in the offer.

DUST SUPPRESSION IMPROVEMENT SERVICESDust is a major environmental issue on many material handling and mining machines. Beyond the many dust collection systems available on the market we offer special upgrades on machine design that will minimize dust emission during material flow over the machine. Such upgrades are in most cases related to redesign of transfer points where most dust is produced.A complete system to control dust at conveyor transfer points is based on three design parameters:• To limit air coming into the enclosure and the material stream• To reduce the creation of dust inside the enclosure• To lower air velocities within the enclosure, allowing suspended dust to fall back onto the conveyor belt

SERVICE SCOPEHood and spoon system - Works best when the material stream is kept as close as possible to constant flow. Peaks and valleys in the loading pattern will conflict with the desire to provide a consolidated material stream. The success of this system may well eliminate the need for dust collection systems in your operation.

Dust curtains - To reduce escaping airborne dust, conveyor loading zone is to be equipped with a number of dust curtains in a staggered pattern. This allows the dust particles to drop out of the air back to the material stream.

Sealing of transfer points structure - All structure around transfer points needs to be sealed so the dust cannot be released and air flow is minimized.

SERVICE VALUE ADDED• Cost saving by improving environmental features • Building up your in-house environmental culture• Positive impact on your surroundings and nature• Sharing our unique OEM knowledge• External feedback regarding your EHS initiatives• Learning “best practices” through our global experience

PRICING BASEPrice is based on agreed scope, type of modifications and amount of structural redesign.
