Diagnosis : Recover detail buried in shadows (all data is captured within dynamic range of picture) Approach : In Camera Raw, Knock down Highlights (-100), brighten Shadows (+100)

Diagnosis : Detail buried in shadows is partly recovered Evaluation : Highlights & Shadow sliders are working nicely Next : Lets see if it pays to do HS again

Step 1b - Another Highlight & Shadow adjustment, with a tweak of Exposure Jpeg (8 bit) Histogram

Diagnosis : Detail buried in shadows is nicely recovered Evaluation : Histogram is in good shape Next : Go to Contrast enhancement

Bottom Line : 2 Step process, first step is manipulation of histogram, step two is optimization of contrast with any number of tools

Step 2a - Do whole image contrast enhancement in Photoshop • Image > Adjustments > Curves, ... • Filter > Camera Raw Filter

• Contrast, Clarity, Texture, Dehaze, Vibrance

Step 2b – Do whole image contrast enhancement using Nik Filters • Filter > Nik Collection > Color Efex Pro 4 > Pro Contrast
