There are 3 types of cell division:
1. Binary Fission- Prokaryotic cell division. One bacterium splits into two. NO NUCLEUS
2. Mitotic Cell Cycle- Eukaryotic Cell division. One cell with one nucleus divides into 2 identical cells each with a nucleus.
3. Meiotic Cell Cycle- Eukaryotic Cell Division. One cell with one nucleus divides into 4 different/distinct cells each with a nucleus containing half the genetic information.

Mitotic Cell Cycle vs Meiotic Cell Cycle
Mitosis vs. MeiosisOccurs in
Mitosis- My toes and all body cells (including reproductive organs)
Meiosis- My o’s (ovaries) or testes(reproductive organs- gonads)
![Page 5: Mini-Quiz Review Overview of the 3 types of cell division.](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022062516/56649e2d5503460f94b1c7de/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Mitosis vs. MeiosisNumber of cells produced per parent cell
Mitosis- TWO
Meiosis- FOUR (in Females only 1 of 4 will be a viable/usable egg, in Males all 4 will be viable sperm)
![Page 6: Mini-Quiz Review Overview of the 3 types of cell division.](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022062516/56649e2d5503460f94b1c7de/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Mitosis vs. MeiosisChromosome Number of Parent Cell
Mitosis- Diploid (Regular Body Cell #)
Meiosis- Diploid (Regular Body Cell #)
