1. Trace or pin the patterns (page 4) to the wool felt and cut out the pieces

according to the Cutting List (below left).

2. Starting to one side along the bottom of an End piece,

spiral the red yarn inward, needle-felting it in place as

you work around the End. Needle-felt just enough to

secure the yarn; heavy needle-felting may bring the color

of the background up into the yarn. Clip the yarn when

you reach the center, reserving the excess yarn for the

other End.

3. Starting at the same point along the bottom edge,

needle-felt the white yarn in place next to the red yarn.

4. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to embellish the remaining End

piece, spiraling in the opposite direction.

5. Curve a long edge of the Side piece around one of

the End pieces, aligning the corner of the Side with

the corner of the End (make sure the embellished

side of the End faces out). Whipstitch in place with

2 strands of embroidery floss. Trim the Side if it

extends past the flat bottom of the End when you

reach the other corner.

6. Whipstitch the other long edge of the Side around the remaining End piece.

7. Whipstitch the Bottom piece to the Sides and End,

leaving an opening of about 1" for stuffing.

8. Stuff a handful of fiberfill into the roll through the

opening, using a chopstick or similar implement to

push it in. Stuff to your desired fullness.

9. Finish sewing the opening closed.
