Mini - Class NightDue to the calamity days this week, Mini-Class Night has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 15. It begins at 5:30pm in your daughters Block 1 class. Your daughter will have her schedule to give you for reference. We hope you are able to join us and meet the teachers your daughter has this semester. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
Mother Daughter Cosmic Bowling
On Friday, January 24, from 6:30pm - 9:00pm, we will have our first annual Mother Daughter Cosmic Bowling Night! All JA students and moms are welcome to attend. It will take place at Miracle Lanes, located at 5030 Jackman Rd., Toledo, Ohio 43613. You can bowl two games at a price of $2.79 per game, per person (including shoes). We will not be collecting money. You will pay the bowling alley directly. There will be bowling, pizza, raffles, prizes, and many memories made! If you are interested in purchasing a 2014 Mother Daughter Cosmic Bowling shirt, please fill out the order form attached and turn-in with payment to Mrs. Nester no later than Monday, January 13, 2014. A big thank you to Debbie Packo for organizing this event.
The Junior Academy Retreat is Friday, January 17, from 8:30am - 2:00pm at Olivet Lutheran Church in the Activities Center (5840 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560). We ask that parents drop their daughter off directly at Olivet Lutheran Church at 8:30am and pick them up no later than 2:30pm. Please fill out and return the attached Student Release Form by this Monday,
January 13. Also, as part of the retreat, Mr. Shannon is asking students to bring in a picture of a family member or a special person in their life no later than Tuesday, January 14 (someone living or deceased, that your daughter perhaps has a strong connection with, favorite memory of, etc). Please make sure your daughter’s name is on the back so that they can be returned!

The meeting for students regarding the 7th and 8th grade class trip originally scheduled for Friday,
January 10, during Seminar, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 14, during seminar.
Our celebration of the Feast of St. Angela Merici is Monday, January 27, at 9:20am. We are
highlighting our JA students that day as we begin Catholic Schools Week. Please feel free to attend.

There is a prospective High School Parent Information Session on Tuesday, January 14, at 6:00 pm in The Learning Commons. This is a fantastic opportunity for parents of 8th grade girls who are interested in
sending their daughter to SUA for high school.
We will hold a Junior Academy Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, January 21, at 6:00 pm in The Learning Commons. Please share this date with anyone you know who has a daughter currently in grades 5 – 7. Parents will have the opportunity to learn about what the Junior Academy has to offer young ladies
as well as ask questions.
The Junior Academy Placement Test will be administered on Saturday, January 25, from 8:15 am to 11:45 am. Current 8th graders who cannot make the January 11 testing date for the high school can test
on January 25. Reservations are requested. Parents may call me at419-329-2209 to register their daughter for the test.

Current 6th and 7th Grade Parent Meeting and Registration
On Thursday, January 23, we will have a meeting for parents of current 6th and 7th graders. This meeting will begin at 7:00pm and will take place in the Learning Commons. This is an opportunity for all parents to learn about their daughter’s required and elective curriculum and to schedule classes for the 2014-2015

Congratulations to our 7th Grade Basketball Team!Coach Hemry informs us that the 7th grade basketball team played St. Aloysius on Saturday, January 4, and
won with a final score of 26 to 8! Hillary Hemry was the high scorer with 12 points, followed by Grace Aubry with 6 points. Once again, Rachel “the hulk” Lambert was awesome on defense. Congratulations!

Still Needed - Photos of 8th Grade StudentsWe are still in need of photos of 8th grade students. In particular, we need a baby photo, current individual
student picture, and photos from any SUA related event. We are planning ahead and thinking about 8th grade Graduation as these photos will be used to make the 8th grade Graduation video. Please scan and e-

Catholic Schools WeekCatholic Schools Week is quickly approaching. This year’s theme is Catholic School: Communities of
Faith, Knowledge, and Service. It will begin on Monday, January 27, and will conclude on Friday, January 31. There will be special events and dress down days throughout the week. Keep your eye out for an
official schedule of events in the January 24, 2014 JA Update.
