the north the newly platted town of 01 City which has been laid off in hoar of the great Emery county incline seventyfive miles south and a little east of Price Judging from the out- croppings of the oil sands as seen on the San Rafael swell six miles to the southeast of Oil City the American 01 people expect to strike the frt sand at a depth of about 600 This Is nearly 600 feet thick sepa ¬ rated cars of copet ore were sent out this week tHO No 1 Bf the Iron Blossom and worng oars of leadsilver ore are also going forward to the smelter daily The shaft at the Crown Point prop ¬ erty is now down to a depth of 105 feet the first contract for sinking awarded by the company to Dan Tranter having been finished Another contract has however been let for 100 feet of sink level lag which H take the shaft to the 200 The work of opening up the ore which was encountered last week upon the 300 level of the Colorado mine Is going along in good shape according to Superintendent Perry Fuller The work which has already been done shows tha the ore body Is over 40 feet wide the Indications are that it will be found to be much wider The ore is also of a splendid grade and the find promises to make a new mine out of the Colorado as the company will have- a1out 400 feet of virgin ground In the sutb end of Its territory At the Black Jack mine at Mammoth there has been a marked Improvement In the character of ore through which- a drif is being driven upon the 1000 This ore was opened up some time ago and since then the manage- ment ¬ has been drifting toward the south in an effort to open up 1 higher grade product It now looks very fa ¬ vorable for the opening of a large de ¬ posit of shipping ore early in the week tne drift having cut through some good ore When seen yesterday James Dugan who is superintending the work- at the Black Jack said that the ore is still broken up but that the values are Increasing He believes that the drift upon the 1000 level will however open up some hiBhRradeore > At the No 3 workings of the Iron Blossom mine a drift Is now being pushed out from the 500 level for the purpose of getting beneath the cave which was opened up last week The distance which this drift will have to be driven is 100 feet and this work can no doubt be accomplished within two weeks The cave has been explored a little more thoroughly since our last Issue was published and enough work has been done to show that it contains- a great deal of ore JCo effort will however he made to extract this ore until it can be taken out through the drift upon the 500 level During the Uncle Sam opened up some more ore in the old Humbug workings of the mine While the ore is practically the same as that from which shlpnentsj have been com- Ing I for a number of months and for TINTIC MATTERS FROM

LOCAL VIEWPOINT

Four cars of copet ore were sentout this week tHO No 1Bf the Iron Blossom and worngoars of leadsilver ore are also goingforward to the smelter daily

The shaft at the Crown Point prop ¬erty is now down to a depth of 105 feetthe first contract for sinking awardedby the company to Dan Tranter havingbeen finished Another contract hashowever been let for 100 feet of sinklevellag which Htake the shaft to the 200

The work of opening up the orewhich was encountered last week uponthe 300 level of the Colorado mine Isgoing along in good shape according toSuperintendent Perry Fuller The workwhich has already been done showsthathe ore body Is over 40 feet wide

the Indications are that it will befound to be much wider The ore isalso of a splendid grade and the findpromises to make a new mine out ofthe Colorado as the company will have-a1out 400 feet of virgin ground In thesutb end of Its territory

At the Black Jack mine at Mammoththere has been a marked ImprovementIn the character of ore through which-a drif is being driven upon the 1000

This ore was opened up sometime ago and since then the manage-ment

¬

has been drifting toward thesouth in an effort to open up 1 highergrade product It now looks very fa ¬

vorable for the opening of a large de ¬posit of shipping ore early in the weektne drift having cut through somegood ore When seen yesterday JamesDugan who is superintending the work-at the Black Jack said that the ore isstill broken up but that the values areIncreasing He believes that the driftupon the 1000 level will however openup some hiBhRradeore >

At the No 3 workings of the IronBlossom mine a drift Is now beingpushed out from the 500 level for thepurpose of getting beneath the cavewhich was opened up last week Thedistance which this drift will have tobe driven is 100 feet and this work canno doubt be accomplished within twoweeks The cave has been explored alittle more thoroughly since our lastIssue was published and enough workhas been done to show that it contains-a great deal of ore JCo effort willhowever he made to extract this oreuntil it can be taken out through thedrift upon the 500 levelDuring the Uncle Samopened up some more ore in the oldHumbug workings of the mine Whilethe ore is practically the same as thatfrom which shlpnentsj have been com-IngI for a number of months and forthat reason cannot be viewed in thelght of a new strike yet L isi an Im ¬
