For the second year in a row, a group of YWAMers from England and beyond ministered to hundreds at Mind Body Spirit, a prominent London New Age/spiritual festival. The group offered “creation prayer” inside an exhibition booth, where team members would listen to the Holy Spirit for specific words about God’s original design for a person.

“We really learned about God’s authority and power in a realm that sometimes we’re not very aware of ourselves,”

said Forever prayer coordinator Hayley Bullen, who organised the booth. “Over six days, we prayed for about 400 to 500 people at the stand, gave away over 100 Gospels of John, referred about 200 people to Alpha, saw numerous physical healings, and watched as seven people made a decision to follow Jesus.”

Hearing God’s voiceIt was easy to point people to Jesus, says team member Seth

Dunham, because so many people at the festival were open about where they were on their spiritual journey. “One of my favorite times was talking with a Reiki healer,” Seth continues. “She was telling me about how she talked to angels, and I

“Several people would ask, ‘How did you do that? How

did you get that information about me?’ And we were able to tell them it was God. One lady said, ‘Oh wow, no one else says

that. They say it comes from them.’” (Phil)

asked her if she would like to go straight to the source and talk to God. She said OK, so we sat there and listened, and she got to hear God for herself.”

In an environment thick with various spiritual beliefs, God made His voice clear to the team, and to those who came to the booth for prayer.

“Several people asked, ‘How did you do that? How did you get that information about me?’ And we were able to tell them it was God,” says Phil Manning.

A large number of people who came for prayer commented on the peaceful feeling they had upon entering the stand. Others saw visions and heard words while they were being prayed for.

Dondi Carter recalls an encounter she had with a woman named Dena*: “I got

“We prayed for a Korean girl called Jean. She really agreed

with a lot of what we were getting for her in prayer. She had

been raised Roman Catholic, and then walked away at 18.

But I shared with her the feeling that ‘what you have is

not enough, and you want more, you want it to satisfy’ and she really identified with that. We

encouraged her to give Jesus another try, to consider coming to God herself instead of relying on her family’s beliefs.” (Hayley

and Dondi)

“I prayed for an older lady named Teri. She was so

encouraged by the words we had for her, very much wanting to walk on the right path with

Jesus. I saw her when I was on break, and she was sitting

with some massage people. She started telling them that they should go to the booth. Lucie

saw her in the toilets, and she was just asking how you have a relationship with Jesus, how to pray, the gospel, etc.” (Hayley

and Christy)

a really clear picture of her surrounded by boxes. She was crying out for help, and didn’t know where to go. It turns out her entire house is filled with boxes right now as she’s divorced. I really felt like God was just saying that He loved her. She said she wanted that ability to just talk to God like we were doing. She said, ‘Wow, I wish I had that!’ We told her, ‘Guess what? You can have it!’ We prayed with her and she accepted Christ! As she was leaving, she said, ‘For eight or nine years I have been searching for something, trying all these different things. Who would have thought that the answer was so simple as Jesus?’”

Hayley says the incredible response was a result of lots of prayer and reflection on what God wanted for this year’s festival. “Spiritually, a lot of prayer went into this time. We didn’t want to assume that God was going to do the same thing He did last year. We didn’t want to barge ahead with what we

knew how to do.”

Getting practicalFrom the practical side, the team needed a larger booth than last year to be able to offer more prayer, and more signage to show people what was being offered. “We decided to take a step of faith and book a bigger stand, which was twice the price,” Hayley comments.

Fellow Forever team member Catherine Evans designed flyers, signs and prayer postcards for the event. “Catherine did a wonderful job on all of our advertising material,” Hayley notes. “We just wanted to create a place of peace that was uncluttered and

aesthetically pleasing. The natural colours she used just worked really well.”

Another need was follow-up, a place to point people who were interested in learning more about Jesus and Christianity. “This year we partnered with Alpha, who allowed us to put their website on our contact cards,” Hayley adds. “We also knew we needed Bibles, or a portion of the Bible, to give away. We ended up giving away over 100

Gospels of John, not just to anyone, but to people who really wanted them.

“I think this year we came better prepared, and it proved to be really powerful,” she continues.

Despite the many healings and words of knowledge that the team received

throughout the festival, the most powerful thing was seeing God’s love for the festival-goers.

“I got to see how much God loves people, and how

He chases after them,” Seth Dunham says. “No matter how many times I prayed for people, and got all these incredible words, in the end, I just felt God saying over and over how He loved people, and wanted a relationship with them. So many great things happened, but in the end, it was simply, ‘I love you.’”

The Mind Body Spirit 2012 festival takes place at the end of May 2012. If you are interested in being involved in our outreach booth at next year’s event, contact Hayley on [email protected].

More stories from MBS “Prayed for a lady called Sara.

She was really relaxed while we listened to God. We asked if she had received anything while we had prayed and she had several visions that she

had seen. They were the same as we had for her. One was

of dancing and it was about acceptance and being loved

for who she was. I asked God if there was a verse for her and had Naaman’s story in

my mind. It was about doing something uncomfortable to

be restored. She started crying and connected with it.

“There was also a word about birthday that was really

significant for her and she cried again; she was having a special birthday this year. She

said she had known Jesus as a child and she loved Him but it’s become more intellectual as she grew up. But now she’s into healing and keeps telling people that you should bring

Jesus into it. “So we didn’t have to do much … just explained some things

like sin and repentance and she LOVED it.” (Jude)

“On the list was ‘Lady C with intense headaches’: her name

was Carla, she came and Jude and I prayed for her. She wandered over, and she said,

that’s me. She was drawn to the stand, and drawn to Jude. Jude

felt compassion for her. God gave Yan two words, then God said look at her shoulder. One

shoulder higher than the other. She puts her legs up, one leg

longer than the other, opposite to the shoulder. I realised her spine was crooked as a result. “We prayed for her legs, then prayed for her shoulder, then prayed for her spine. Her leg grew, then her shoulder went

down. She said, ‘As soon as you touched me, I felt something.

It’s more than heat.’ Then she looks at me and her head

is tilted. She had adjusted her neck for years, so then we

prayed for her neck. We hadn¹t even gotten to her headache yet. I asked her if she had anxiety?

“While all of this is happening, her partner who

was completely sceptical was standing there. I turned to him and asked him if she is

usually anxious. He said yes. So I started to bring him in.

We told her, we can’t pray for your anxiety, you need to give

it to God. As you do, we’ll pray. As she is praying, her eyes

start fluttering. And I pulled him in, because I got him to see what was happening, he

totally changed because he was engaged.

“At the end, he said, ‘I think it’s really good that you guys are free. I’ve been looking all

around this place. It’s all about business, all a big money-

making thing. But this, it’s just from the heart.’” (Yan)

“The first girl who came to us was really unstable. She kept

talking when we were praying for her. She suddenly got up and

left. But at the end of the day she came back and we prayed

for her. God said her life is difficult but He loves her and

sees it. Then I had the word sister and told her and she

was very defensive and acted afraid. It turned out she had been abused by her sister and parents. She shared and cried and we prayed with her. Then

at the end she prayed for us and blessed us.” (Zefa)

“We prayed for the chairman of the Spiritist Society in London. We had really specific words for

him and when we shared them with him he was like, ‘that’s

exactly where I am … my wife will be astounded’ and then

he wandered off in a daze. We overheard him later talking to the others at his stand, saying, ‘Look at this, this is amazing.

They’re good, they’re really good.” (Phil)

“There was a guy called Mike. He was having visions of

healing and spiritual pictures while we were praying. He said

he’s never felt the energy so strong in any other booth. I had

a picture of him sitting under a table, and there was a game

going on above him. Then there was another picture of another

time when he was under the table and he was scared and someone looking for him. In

both times, God was there with His arms around him.

“The picture was right on. He told us he used to play a game

with his auntie where he would hide under the table, but other times his step-dad was looking

for him to hurt him. “We had another image of him as a monk by the sea, where he was a Christian Celtic monk. He said he had thought about

being a Buddhist monk. There was a picture of him rock-

climbing and he was scared, and another image of him on

an eagle’s back, and he looked down and was afraid. In both

instances, we felt God was telling him not to be afraid.”

(Lucie and Phil)

“We prayed for a girl named Jade, and I received a word

about a little girl with really big eyes. Then the girl said

that she had had the recurring dream about this little girl.“So I took her to the Dream

Interpretation stand (a Christian stand) and later they

came up and mentioned that she had become a Christian!”
