Puke Ariki Visit On Monday, 19th March we went to Puke Ariki for the treasure hunt and learning about the mountain and na-tive birds. When we got to Puke Ariki we got into seniors and juniors, the seniors went to the treasure hunt and the juniors went to the class to learn about the mountain and native birds. The treasure hunt was looking for the pictures. The learning was where we did quizzes and activities about the mountain and native birds. After we had all finished our activities we went outside for morning tea and had some fun for about 15 minutes and then we went back inside and went to the opposite rotation. I would like to thank all the parents who came along and took transport.

Senior Surfing On Tuesday. 20th March the year 4, 5 and 6’s all went to Fitzroy Beach to do surfing. We were told that the boards we were using are soft boards so that if they hit us they will not hurt. They gave us a wetsuit to put on and we went to the changing rooms and got changed, then we came back and carried a board to-gether. They taught us how to carry a board: one of us carried the back of the board and one of us carried the front. When we got to the beach they told us how to stand up on the board, then we went into the ocean and started to surf. Everyone was really good at surfing and standing on the board. Once we finished we went up and got changed.

Urenui Marae Visit

On Wednesday 21st March, the sen-ior class and the junior class both went to the Urenui Marae. We first had a Powhiri to welcome us. After our shared morning tea we all got into three groups. We had three rota-tions, that we rotated around. There was Mr. Holden at one for games outside. The next was doing Rakau Takaro or stick games with Whaea Anne-Maree. Lastly was drawing and colouring in Taniwha faces. At the end, we all tidied up, then farewelled everyone. I would like to thank all the parents for helping transport us kids and baking all of the shared lunch.

Urenui Mud Run The Naki Run Amuck will be held on Sunday, 13th May. A 2.5km run for year 4, 5 & 6 children will be part of this years’ event. For more information please visit their website www.nakirunamuck.co.nz.

Clarification of Swim Sport Results As you know earlier this month we were involved in the Tainui Cluster Swimming Sports at the Waitara pools. Unfortunately at Swimming Sports there was a slight mix up in the calculating of points for some swimmers and therefore a mix up in the awarding of some of the overall trophies. As a result some of the overall trophies have been redistrib-uted. For Mimi this means that we gained the trophy for overall Junior Girl and the overall Intermediate Girl but lost the trophy for the overall Senior Girl. All of the swimmers who were awarded age group trophies (eg: 8 Year Old Girls) have kept their trophies, it is just the overall trophies that have been adjusted. As a result it has been decided to retire these overall trophies, which were originally handed out when the cluster was much smaller, and to keep the age group trophies.

Worm Whizz Worm Whizz is still for sale for $5/bottle. Please con-tact Sally in the senior room or Lisa McClutchie. We also need some clean 2 litre milk bottles please.
