TESTIMONIES OF FISHERFOLKS ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CLOSED FISHING SEASON
Total municipal catch data on gillnet (pamanti) suggests increased landings from 2015 to 2016
Catch of high-valued carnivore fish species such as tambakol (long tail tuna), tanigue (wahoo), among others has now been recorded in Coron that could be attributed to fish food availability through food chain
The municipal fishermen in Cuyo and El Nido, Palawan claimed that their production increased and that they can catch galunggong even in near shore areas attributed to the closed fishing season.
Increased compliance of JAO 01-s.2015 thru the decreased catch due to decreasing operation of commercial fishing vessels
One-month policy implementation may not have a full blown impact on the resources considering that majority of the sizes caught are prior to maturity
Innately, biological results among the fish stocks can be seen in series of years monitoring of at least 5 to 10years
VIIRS monitoring could only detect fishing gears thru light illumination
Continued policy implementation thru MCS and IEC and rigid stock monitoring could have a bigger impact on the fish stocks
