    ArcReach™ System Advantages

    Tech Talk

More arc-on time and reduced exposure to workplacehazards for operators can be realized using ArcReachbecause less time is spent going back to the welding powersupply to set process and arc voltage.

Less operator fatigue by not needing to move or repositionboth heavy secondary weld leads bundled with control cordson the worksite. Control cables are not used.

Remote override of weld process and arc voltageenables the operator to have maximum control over thearc. This prevents setting changes from being made at the power supply when the feeder and power supply are in communication.

Operator can precisely set arc voltage at the feeder andmonitor the actual arc voltage and current delivered to theweld using the digital meters on the feeder. This removesguess work when it comes to adhering to weld procedures.

Save time by no longer needing to troubleshoot weldingsystem problems that result from damaged control cords.

Eliminate costly control cord repairs because controlcords are not used.

ArcReach provides remote voltage control at the wire feeder without needing a control cable.

ArcReach TechnologyArcReach technology uses the weld cable to communicate welding control information between the feeder and powersource. This technology eliminates the need for control cords, and their associated problems and costs.

    Dimension™ NT 450 ArcReach™ Features

Lift-Arc™ allows TIGstarting without the use ofhigh-frequency. Starts thearc without contaminatingthe weld with tungsten.

Internal digital voltage control (DVC) enablesoperator to preset weld voltage in the CV mode before striking an arc.

Fan-On-Demand™ coolingsystem operates onlywhen needed, reducingnoise, energy use and theamount of contaminantspulled through machine.

DC multiprocess capability provides versatilityand outstanding arc performance in CV (MIG)and CC (Stick and TIG).

Line voltage compensation keeps welding outputconstant even if power input varies by ±10%.

Thermal overload protection helps preventmachine damage if the duty cycle is exceeded orairflow is restricted.

    Inductance/Dig controlwith pre-settable digitaldisplay to optimizeMIG/Stick performance.

115 VAC duplex receptacle provides 15 ampsof auxiliary power.

Help codes helptroubleshoot and servicepower source. Help codes are displayed onthe volt/amp meters.Reduces the time neededto get the machine backinto service.

Excellent power efficiency for exceptional valueand return on your investment.

Enhanced environmentalprotection. All criticalcomponents housed inprotective enclosures.

Process selector switchautomatically setscontactor requirements, eliminating confusioncaused by several switchcombinations and makingthis machine very“operator-friendly.”

Ez-Bind™ feature. Easily establishes an exclusiveconnection between the power source and thewire feeder, using only the weld cable. When aconnection is established, other ArcReach wirefeeders are prevented from gaining control ofthe power source. The connection is made byholding the gun trigger two to five seconds priorto initiating the first weld.

    SuitCase® X-TREME™ VS ArcReach™ Features

Potted and trayed main printed circuit boardfor the harshest environments adds exceptionalreliability. Board has full-trigger isolation so ashorted gun trigger will not affect feeder operation.

Digital meters with SunVision™ technologydisplay voltage and wire speed, and amperage if desired. Meters can be seen clearly even indirect sunlight.

Voltage/wirefeed speed control allows adjust -ment of the welding power source preset whenused in an ArcReach system.

Electronic wire feed speed control withintegrated tachometer ensures best-in-class wire feed speed accuracy.

Ultra-low drag inlet guide pins makeloading the wire easy and do not deformthe wire on the way into the drive rolls.Simply thread the wire through the pinsand into drive rolls.

Gun locking tab works with guns havingcorresponding locking grooves to prevent gunfrom being pulled out if the feeder is draggedby the gun.

Scaled wire pressure knob provides easy adjust mentand consistent pressure on the drive rolls and wire.

Wire drive and motor assembly is specificallydesigned for mobile welding applications to providesmooth and consistent wire delivery. Improvedmotor torque and drive roll system are designed to feed small-diameter solid wire (.023 inch) to large-diameter cored wire (5/64 inch).

Polypropylene case with built-in slide railsand the ability to open the door to change wirewith feeder in vertical position.

Excellent starts and improved superiorarc performance for all types and sizes ofwires using either CV or CC power supply.

Double-filtered gas valve helps keep dirt fromclogging and affecting gas flow.

Wide voltage range for small and largewires with no contactor chatter andreduction of arc outages.

    Improved contactor for high-amperage,high duty cycle applications (8VS: 330 A at 60%, 12VS: 425 A at 60%).
