PRESIDENT’S REPORT Linda

Smith Thank you to Barb Amey for coordinating the September program by Kathy Bunko on “Monarch Metamorphosis” and Martha Klemmer for suggesting Kathy as a speaker. Kathy had an excellent presentation which included several short videos she took of the entire process. Thank you to Cindy Bauman for assisting our speaker in setting up her first Zoom meeting. Everything went flawlessly.

I hope you will be able to join us for the October program on “The Magic and Mystery of Peonies” by Neil Atzinger. If you need help accessing Zoom, please contact Cindy Bauman prior to our meeting on October 8th. She can help you set it up and then do a test Zoom meeting to make sure you will be ready for our meeting.

Yearbooks, which include our membership roster for 2020-2021, may be picked up at my home. Please call or email me in advance to schedule a day/time for pickup. If you notice any incorrect information, please contact Terri Hardick with your correction.

We are currently working on getting our entire website updated. Sue Tompkins, our webmaster, has been hard at work to get our virtual members’ garden tour posted from our August meeting. This was quite a challenge as the file was too large to post. After much trial and error, it is now posted in four segments. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to take a peek. Cindy Bauman did a great job putting all of the pictures the members submitted into a slide presentation.

Keep those pictures coming! If you have taken pictures at any of our events in the last two years, please send your pictures to Diane Pearson. She will forward them to the appropriate person for posting online.

Pull on your garden gloves, grab a mask, and get ready to see some of your gardening buddies at the fall garden clean-up. There will be assigned shifts so that we can spread out and do it safely. The date is October 22nd with a rain date of October 23rd. Contact Kathy Blackburn to volunteer for a shift. The committee did a wonderful job this summer and the beds are looking stunning. It is hard to believe the first killing frost may be just around the corner.

Highland Garden Club is inviting you to their October 12th program at

7 PM. Julia Hofley will be sharing a virtual ride of “Michigan Gardener Day Trips in Michigan and Ohio”. See the forwarded email from Judy Cooper that Martha Klemmer sent for details. This is the presentation Julia gave at the last Michigan Division Meeting. It was very informative and gave a lot of great places to visit.

Warm regards,

Linda Smith
