We are already building ‘static’ slices on 4G that will need to be scalable & dynamic in 5G

| 5G - A brave new futurePage 5

Telstra currently provides limited slicing on 4G for various use cases, including:

• VPNs for security

• Enterprise QoS for differentiated services

• Telstra LANES® for Emergency Services

• LTE-B for optimal media experiences

• NB IoT by way of a dedicated virtual core

On 5G we will be able to offer more dynamic slices of network, giving personalised latency,

priority, cost and more. To deliver this we will require a new kind of network architecture built

on software & virtualisation.

LTE-B enables enhanced media through:

High Quality streaming of real time content to unlimited devices

MOOD adaptation of the network to activate LTE-B based on load

LTE-B is a media optimised slice from content source to device

How will we enable network slicing?

| 5G - A brave new futurePage 16

What are we doing?

Deploying PODs around country

The geographic footprint allows us to:

1. Cater to different latency requirements (e.g., low-latency IoT use cases like autonomous mining trucks)

2. Provide localised services

What is the migration plan?

We are capping investment in physical infrastructure. Gradual migration plan and period of dual environments to lower risk

during transition.

Foundation / Core

Create separate wireless cloud (through metro and regional PODs nationwide) and virtualise Mobile Packet Core + functions

Functionality and scale

Expand wireless cloud through deployment of additional Regional PODs and create network slices

Intelligence

Automate and orchestrate lifecycle management of Mobile Packet Core and slices
