Brown‐Dorsey Medallion Home 213 N. Weatherford (432) 688‐8947    Built in 1899, the Brown‐Dorsey Home is the oldest in Midland. Many of the unusual features have been restored, including the entrance hall with its beautiful art glass window in the form of a Gothic arch. Call for tour information.  

George W. Bush Childhood Home 1412 W. Ohio (432) 685‐1112 www.BushChildhoodHome.org      Opened on April 11, 2006, the home has been restored to the early 1950s and reflects the lives of the young family through exhibits and furnishings. Nowhere outside the United States  have so many prominent political fig‐ures lived in one home – two presidents, two governors, first lady, ambassador and a CIA director.   When to Visit: Tuesday–Saturday: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sundays: 2 p.m.– 5 p.m. The museum is closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Admission Charged. Wheelchair accessible. Group Rate: 21 to 49 people: $4/each; 50+ people: $3/each  

Bush Family Home Driving Tour   Pick up your copy of the Bush Family Home Driving Tour at the Chamber of Commerce, 109 North Main, or Visitor Center, 1406 W. Interstate 20, and begin your tour. The self‐guided George W. Bush Auto Tour includes visits to the former residences of both the 41st and 43rd presidents of the United States.    When to Visit: At your leisure. Chamber of Commerce: Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.– 5 p.m.   

CAF Airpower Museum 9600 Wright Drive (432) 563‐1000 www.airpowermuseum.org www.Savethegirls.org     The CAF Airpower Museum is world renowned for their authentic World War II artifacts, the world’s largest collection of Aviation Nose ArtTM  and the annual CAF AIRSHO.  The museum houses 40,000 square feet of hands‐on permanent exhibits that detail the  story of World War II airpower, an exhibit that also features 13‐18 aircraft. The museum’s nose art gallery features 33 original panels officially designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as an official project of Save America’s Treasures.   When to Visit: Tuesday–Saturday: 9 a.m.– 5 p.m., Holidays 12 p.m.– 5 p.m., Closed Sundays, Mondays, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Admission charged. Nationally ac‐credited. Group Rate: $7/person   

Haley Library & History Center 1805 W. Indiana (432) 682‐5785 www.haleylibrary.com     Learn about Texas and southwestern history including the cattle industry and those behind it.  The library features more than 30,000 volumes covering western exploration, early railroads, and the development of ranching, mining, petroleum and politics. The library also features extensive information on the Lincoln County War and Billy the Kid, and a collection of bronze sculptures, paintings and artifacts.   When to Visit: Monday–Friday: 9 a.m.– 5 p.m.  Admission: Free.

Midland County Historical Museum  301 W. Missouri Ave. (432) 688‐8947    Learn all about the history of Midland and the region and see reproductions of the "Midland Man", the skeleton of a Clovis female found near the city in 1953. Analysis of the remains by Dr. Curtis R. McKinney using  uranium‐thorium analysis showed that the bones are 11,600 ± 800 years old.   When to Visit: Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 2 – 5 p.m.         

Museum of the Southwest 1705 W. Missouri (432) 683‐2882 www.museumsw.org     Housed in the Turner Mansion, which is posted in the National Register of Historic Places, the Museum of the Southwest collects and exhibits art and archaeology from the American Southwest. The museum also hosts trav‐eling and temporary exhibits covering a broad range of art from Currier & Ives to Andy Warhol, archaeology to as‐tronomy. Also visit the Fredda Turner Durham Children’s Museum and Marian Blakemore Planetarium next to the Museum. Admission Free.   

Fredda Turner Durham Children’s Museum   On the grounds of the Museum of the Southwest, the children’s museum features three exhibit areas that emphasize interactive learning through pure creativity and imagination for children of all ages. Call for program in‐formation.  Admission $2. Children under 1 free.    

Marian Blakemore Planetarium   The Marian C. Blakemore Planetarium has recently re‐opened featuring a revamped state‐of‐the‐art projec‐tion theater (one of only eight Spitz HD Star Projectors in the nation) and a new education classroom will highlight this extensive remodel. For information on tour bookings and the return of the sky shows, please call the Museum at 432‐683‐2882.  Group rates available.     When to Visit: The above three facilities are open Tuesday– Saturday: 10 a.m.– 5 p.m.; Sunday: 2 p.m.– 5 p.m.  Closed: Mondays and national holidays. Nationally accredited.

Permian Basin Vietnam Veteran Memorial 9900 Wright Drive  (West of Commemorative Air Force) www.veteransmemorial.us   Dedicated on November 12, 1994, the Permian Basin Vietnam Veteran Memorial stands as a lasting tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in service to their country. From the armed‐services pentagon, enveloped in a lone Texas star, to the embracing comfort of the memorial’s wall, visitors are given the opportunity to share their pride in these servicemen who will never be forgotten.

Scarborough‐Linebery House 802 S. Main St. (432) 685‐7368    Built in 1907 for Kara and W.F. Scarborough, the house belonged to the same family for 90 years before be‐ing given to the city of Midland.  The historical home is open by appointment for tours, luncheons, dinner parties, day retreats, weddings, receptions and backyard functions.  Call for tour information.  

Susie’s South Forty Candy Factory 1515 South Fairgrounds Rd. (432) 570‐4040    Tour the factory where world‐famous toffee, Kickers Pralines, Winners Caramels, Fudge Richey, Texas Trash and more are all made. Susie’s South Forty Confections Candy Factory is a GuinnessTM World Record‐Holder for making the largest piece of toffee. It was shaped like the state of Texas.   Call for tour information.
