NWEA Testing – October 6, 2020

• Your scholar will either test in the morning or afternoon. Students should make sure that they have their testing devices fully charged.• When your scholar is not testing, they are to complete their

asynchronous (offline) assignments for each class.

• AM Testing Session: 8:30am – 11:00am• PM Testing Session: 12:00pm – 2:30pm

*** Please make sure your student is logged into Zoom 5 minutes before the testing session begins.

How to Split the Screens on Your iPad

1. Open the Zoom app to join your class2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Dock

(make sure only the Dock is shown) – Make sure that the Safari app is on your Dock

3. On the Dock, touch and hold the Safari app, then drag it off the dock to the left or right edge of the screen.

6th Grade HR Science with Mr. Lockard

All scholars will become scientists this year, investigating the world around us.

• Scholars will be using "Brain Pop" as well as their Science Fusion textbook. Assignments (except Brain Pop, which is scored separately in the program) will get uploaded through Schoology in the specific assignment link.

• I'm looking forward to continuing to work with your scholars this year!

My mission is to teach critical thinking and help students become

effective citizens.

vI am excited to be teaching Social Studies again this year.

vStudents typically have a new project each week. I also integrate current events through news articles and CNN. Students are required to answer a daily journal which is located in Schoology.

8th Grade HR-AELA withMr. Parks

Exciting Happenings in ELA

o Our Student Teacher Ms. Novitski is leading lessons, assigning work, and working hands on with scholars

o Sixth grade scholars will begin poetry writing

o We have introduced Greek Mythology to the 7th grade students (poetry next)

o We are analyzing the positives and negatives of technology in the 8th grade classes

• Into Literature textbooks are utilized for instruction• Scholars submit assignments in the Chat

and through Schoology• We assign assignments/work through

Schoology, Newsela and in class.

8th Grade HR-BMath withMs. Ivory

Ø Majority of assignments are located online on the math book website (Gray with yellow " Ed”)

Ø Scholars need their math textbook, notebook and a pencil daily

Ø Below is the minimum that every student has on their Schoology course page for my class.

My goal for all students is to help

them become mathematically

literate and build their confidence as a young

mathematician.

• I will provide after school tutoring on Monday and Tuesday for 6th and 7th

graders from 3:10pm –4:00pm. • They must log into my

Zoom at 3:10pm to join to the tutoring session.• I will have office hours on

Wednesday.

Ms. Brodnik• I am working with the 7th and 8th

grade students during their asynchronous time Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.• I am working with 7th grade from

8:30am-10:00am and 8th grade from 11:00am-1:00pm during asynchronous time on Wednesday.• I will also work at 3pm for any child

that needs extra time as long as they inform me so I can login to meet with them on my Zoom.
