Middle School Activities 2nd Trimester November 18th 2019 - March 15th 2020
The second season of activities is upon us and this booklet is a summary of the trimesters’ program. There are some terrific opportunities on offer and we encourage students to get involved.
Students should sign up on their grade level portal page. Although the trimester runs through Nov 18th to March 15th some activities have irregular schedules. For more information on these please check the description or consult with the advisor.

SwimmingTraining: The season will begin with dry land
training on Tuesdays. Please meet in the gym foyer area at 3.45
Bring: Appropriate appropriate clothing to work out. Presently the swimming pool that we use is
under maintenance and we are hoping to gain access in the New Year. It is important that those interested in representing the school find time to visit a public pool twice a week to maintain their

Rehearsals: Tuesdays/Thursdays/Fridays in TheatreNo experience? Lots of experience? Try out for the MS Play!Audition information will be sent out via the MS bulletin late November. Please email Ms Braun with any questions regarding auditions and rehearsals. It is essential that cast members commit to the 3 sessions a week.Performances: March 12 & 13
Modern DanceMeeting Days: Mondays 4.40pm – 6.00pm Multi Purpose Room Start: Monday 18th November. Students will explore more advanced movement patterns based on various styles of modern dance, including modern jazz, street dance, lyrical dance etc. The whole class will be structured to include warm-up, stretching, strength building, choreography building and free dance expression. Fun movement will be complemented by an introduction to correct posture, body awareness and care. Dance students will perform for ISP students and parents. CEESA BandDays: Wednesdays 3.45-5.00Venue: Band RoomMs. Simondet is putting a call out to all MS Instrumentalists that are interested in representing the school at CEESA Band in February. Ms. Simondet will make herself and the band room available on a variety of days, after school for students to prepare their music for the CEESA Festival in Moscow. Knowledge BowlDay: Tuesdays 3.40 - 4.40, Ms. Beek LabSharpen your general knowledge and understanding of absolutely everything. Knowledge Bowl is an interdisciplinary quiz competition and this is the second year ISP are running this exciting program. We will also be sending a team to participate in the CEESA tournament. Days: Mondays 4.30-5.30pm Venue: ES Theatre, starting Monday November 18th Modern and various Indian film dances will surprise you with their expressive elements and colourful techniques in every step - a fusion of the ancient Indian tradition and wisdom with modern dance techniques:- latest Bollywood dance hits- improvement of body coordination through entertaining technique- basics of acting skills and stage movement abilities- dance performance for parents at the end of the whole course- relaxing technique at the end of each class (consciousness of individual parts of the body and their relaxation)Sign up - VeracrossMs Lucie L / Ms Jarmila [email protected]
Knitting 4a needEvery winter here in Prague homeless people struggle in the cold or even die of hypothermia. In this club we knit gloves, hats and scarves to help them. Knitting is a simple skill that is fun, relaxing and easy to learn. This club is for Upper and Middle school students with no previous experience necessary. All needles and wool is provided. Coding ClubDay: on Tuesdays from 15:40 to 16:40, Idea Lab (129)Start on November 5Advisor: Mr. Bobyk
Join this club and explore the many different ways that code makes up our world. We'll take you from the basics of programming to graphical and web programming. Students will also be introduced to the many implementations of code and development of professional code.

Yoga for TeensDay: Tuesdays 3.45 - 4.45 - Green Room Taking our soothing yoga class and slowing things down. Your practice starts with listening to the body as your internal teacher. A moderate flow moves through the postures progressively with an emphasis on uniting mindful movements with breath. Some Pranayama (breath work), meditation along with deeper stretching will be included. This class is energizing while building strength and flexibility, aiming to bring balance to your mind and body. Suitable for all levels with variations and modifications offered throughout the class.Advisor: Daisy Mi [email protected]
MUNAre you interested in current events? International relations? Diplomacy? If so, Model United Nations is the activity for you! In this activity, students will serve as country delegates working collaboratively to address the most pressing issues facing our world today. Students participating in this activity also will have an opportunity to join an ISP delegation attending the MS CEESA MUN Conference in Kiev this April. Middle School Pride GroupJoin with your fellow students in creating a safe community for LGBTQ+ students and families. Hang out in a safe space and plan activities to educate and empower our ISP community. No sign up needed, just come along when you can. All are welcome.Lunch time day 7 and occasional Thursdays after school 3:45-4:30 on room 59.

GymnasticsMeet: Wednesdays from 4.25 till 5.10pm – ES Gym. Come and try out our new gymnastics program. The focus will be on developing and improving individuals gymnastics skills including vaulting, ropes, balance beams and pommels. We will also look to have a sports acrobatics element. MS Robotics TeamMeet: Wednesdays 3.40 – 4.40pm, Room: 59
Start Date: DECEMBER 4th The middle school robotics team is for students interested in
both building and block-programming robots. You do not need to
have experience with Robotics but you must have a strong
interest in building and programming robots.
This trimester, the team follows up after the 2019 First Lego
League (FLL) competition. You will reflect upon the ‘City Shaper’
challenges and learn from the FLL competition, as well as
competing with classmates in off season events like sumo
wrestling, car races, improve teamwork, building & coding skills,
and finish with a presentation.

Czech Running ClubMeet: Thursdays from 3.50 till 5.00pm – Theatre Foyer. This is an externally provided club offered by Ms Nada Kostovolova, former Czech Olympian runner. Come and train with the group learning good running technique and improving your fitness.Training course - Hlásek forest or Fitness room. Young Film SetMeeting Days: FridayStart Date: November 232nd From inception to projection, students will have the opportunity to embrace writing, acting, directing, camera and editing in a creative and encouraging atmosphere. By the end of the term a short film will have been created. This is an activity run at ISP by an outside agency. There is an associated charge. Days: Mondays 3.40-4.40Venue: Mr Hayes’ Class (North Wing)
Speech and Debate meet once a week after school and are involved in competitions around the region.
We participate in events hosted by the Central Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA). This
activity is only for kids interested in CEESA and we can only take 10 students to the CEESA competition .
