International Baccalaureate--

Diploma program administered by the International Baccalaureate (IB) organization

Internationally recognized pre university program

Taught in over 2000 schools in 125 countries

In U.S., Advanced Placement courses are far more popular

Interesting feature of the IB program is the 4000 word essay requirement

Middle College Programs--

•students currently in honors courses taught by the participating high school’s faculty who are adjunct professors •college credit is awarded at the discretion of the university

Virtual High School--• A non-profit organization

• collaborates with schools to offer online, content-rich, credit-bearing high school

courses to students throughout the United States and around the world

• There is no fee to the student for taking a VHS course

• Students take up to two course(s) at BCC

• Must have overall gpa of 3.0

• Permission from H.S. principal or guidance counselor

Affiliated universities include: Fairleigh Dickinson University Seton Hall University Bergen Community College Option II -- BCC is currently developing a middle

college program similar to FDU and Seton Hall Syracuse Project Advanced Program

Provides students with the opportunity to attain college credit for courses taken while in high school at a reduced cost
