Executive SummaryHighlights of MCHS @ SJDC

• MCHS is an AVID school, considered a safe school and a high performing school

• 49% of student body is part of the free/reduced lunch program• API of 884 for 2009; 97% of student proficient or above in ELA• CA Distinguished School, National Blue Ribbon School, Top

1500 High Schools in the Nation• Average of 71% of students receive a letter grade of A or B in

college classes• Number of students graduating with an AA degree has grown

from 5 in 2007 to 27 in 2009• 2009-10 goal is to solidify our program and continue to assure

all students succeed 2

A Brief History

• MCHS @ San Joaquin Delta College opened in the fall of 2000

• Jeff Thompson was the founding principal

• He received the California Community College Chancellor’s Middle College High School Grant

• MCHS converted to the early college model in 2003 using a grant from the Gates Foundation

• An AVID school

• An Expulsion Free and Low Suspension School

MCHS Goals• To enhance and strengthen articulation between

college staff and high school staff• To collect data on graduates in order to gauge

the effectiveness of our program and to determine needed growth areas

• To improve the monitoring and support of the academic support for our students in their college courses

• To continue strive to maintain and improve the academic achievement of all students with emphasis on completion of an AA degree and/or 60 transferable credits.

• To celebrate our 10th year of serving students!
