Today: Information and Registration Meeting for Nicaragua Mission Trips in Memorial Hall at 10:45 a.m. The first trip is February 7-15, 2015 and is geared towards adults doing well repair. The second trip is March 28-April 5, 2015 (Holy Week) and is geared towards youth doing home construction. Cobbler Mountain Grass today, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Come join us for this fantastic outdoor concert. In case of rain, the event will be held in Memorial Hall. To honor Marilyn Sue Parker’s memory, there will be a benefit for the Fauquier SPCA on Sunday, October 12 from 5-8 p.m. The benefit will be held at Poplar Springs Inn & Spa. Tickets are $75/person or $125/couple and include dinner & dessert, live entertainment, dancing and a silent auction. For tickets, call 540-788-9000. Children’s Ministry News
Sunday School is today at 9:30 am! The theme for September is “In the Beginning” and the verse is “Lord, you have done so many things! You made them all so wisely! The earth is full of your creations!” (Psalm 104:24) We will be learning that there is “a time for everything” from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Sunday School is for ages 2 - 5th grade. Harvest Party is coming Friday, October 24th. Wear your costume and enjoy the crafts and the good food.
Putt Putt Trip

Join our first annual Women’s Retreat. Experience the joy and
refreshment of a time apart to strengthen your walk with God.
Our speaker is Ann Maines, an experienced teacher and leader of
retreats. We will be at the Carter Hall Conference Center in
Millwood, Virginia (32 miles from WUMC). The cost is $175 for
a double room and $220 for a single (due now). Make checks
payable to WUMC Women’s Retreat on memo line.

NICARAGUA MISSION OPPORTUNITIES The first trip will be February 7-15, 2015.
This ministry will repair a minimum of 4 drinking water wells for impoverished rural villages. This will be an adult team.
The second trip will be March 28-April 5, 2015. This Ministry will build Dignified Homes for impoverished rural families. Preference will be given to HS and MS youth as this trip coincides with
Spring break for our public schools

Thank you to all who assisted with cleaning the church kitchen, and the table and chairs in memorial hall this summer. I thank you for giving of your time and service to this task. Now I ask the members of the congregation to assist us in providing a kitchen ready to be used for all by following the simple list posted in the kitchen after each use. May you find all you need for fun and fellowship in our church kitchen! Thank you for giving this space your respect! The Kitchen Maintenance Team! Food Distribution- In September we served 98 households, 292 individuals, 90 under 18 and 46 over 65. Our next food giveaway is Saturday, October 18th and the additional give away items are fall & winter clothes (gently worn or new) and dish soap. Please bring these items on Thursday & Friday, October 16th & 17th. We need help Friday to unload the truck at 1 p.m. and to box food at 3 p.m., please call Aubrey Smith 540-347-7843 if you can help. Calling all Runners! Do what you enjoy and help the ministry and mission of Rising Hope UM Mission Church (a church that serves the least, the lost and left out – the homeless, the poor and those in recovery). Register to run in the 5K Halloween Hustle for Hope on Saturday, October 25th at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston. Entry ‘fees’ for this run and the Trick or Trot fun run for children under 12 (same day and place) are low, low, low -- just $20 per runner ($10 for children under 12 and a $50 family maximum). PUBLICITY TEAM – Plan and implement ad campaign; have
posters printed and distributed* around community; arrange for
newspaper, web and cable ads; prepare flyers for drop off* at
various locations and as handouts* at Warrenton Chorale
performances. (*We will need extra helpers for these 3 tasks.) MEALS TEAM – Different people or teams to prepare 4 lunches
and 4 suppers for construction, tech, and decorating work
teams. Sunday thru Wednesday, Dec. 8th thru 11th. Food costs
can be reimbursed. Food needed for between 8 and 12 people. CHOIR SUSTENANCE TEAM – Saturday & Sunday, Dec. 13 & 14,
(double performance days), prepare &/or serve snack supper
for singers and support people (about 100 people total). Food
costs will be reimbursed. FIRST AID / SPOTTERS TEAM – Assist singers and backstage
support as needed during all rehearsals and performances in
tree. Schedule to be created after number of volunteers known. USHERS TEAM – 5 ushers needed at each performance to greet
guests, collect tickets, hand out programs, escort guests to
seats, and take up collection.

VIDEO TEAM – Beg, borrow or procure a video system to film
the shows. Run the system at several shows and edit together a
church archival copy. Low light system & decent sound needed. BACKSTAGE TEAM – For each tree rehearsal & performance,
assist singers from behind and under the tree, setting boxes for
each performance, assisting with house lights, and other duties.

15 MORE SINGERS NEEDED – Don't be shy! You don't have to
have perfect pitch to pitch in! Practices are on Thur nights 7-
9pm & starting in Oct, Sat mornings from 10am to noon. You’ll
receive a rehearsal CD to practice with at home or in the car,
music & lyric sheets to study (words are displayed on back wall
during shows so don’t worry about them too much!). Lots of fun
is Guaranteed!!... Just come to the next rehearsal!! PREPARATION TEAM – Carry LCT framework upstairs from under
the stage to facilitate the next team's work. At Noon on Sunday,
Dec. 7th, move items out of the sanctuary to accommodate the
tree’s framework. On Mon night, Dec. 15th, move all the LCT
materials back under the stage and re-set the sanctuary for
Sunday's worship if not already done. CONSTRUCTION TEAM – On Sunday, Dec. 7th, around 1pm, erect
the tree framework and attach the fiber optic star and rolls of
greens. We need to disassemble the tree on Mon, Dec. 15,
which will be a second chance to help this important team. LCT TECH TEAM –
LIGHTS: Establish, maintain and run computerized lighting
program for each performance. Mount lighting controllers in
tree, load and reprogram lighting cues as directed or necessary. SOUND: Mic the sanctuary & tree as requested & run sound. ELECTRICAL: Run Grounds for all lights on tree.
DECORATION TEAM – On Monday, Dec. 8th, fluff rolls of greens
after they are wired to the framework. Replace colored lights as
needed. Mount special lights on tree. Hang bows, snowflakes,
and gold tinsel on tree. Re-fluff tree’s decorations between
shows. On Monday, Dec. 15, remove decorations so construction
team can take tree down. Pack and store away decorations. TICKET TEAM – Edit, print, and cut tickets. Sign up to distribute
tickets beginning Oct 26 on Sundays between services and
arrange for mailing of phone requests or place requests in “will-
call” box for performances. Assist with call backs for tickets.
SET DESIGN & BUILD TEAM – Looking for artistic people to help
implement this year’s unique design goals. Drawing, cutting, and
hanging lots of paper might come into it. Paint set pieces. Procure
