21 Requirements for personnelThepersonnelforinstallation,commissioning,diagnosticsandmaintenancemustmeetthe following requirements:•Trained,qualifiedspecialists:Mustbequalifiedforthisspecificroleandtask• Authorized by the plant operator• Familiar with national regulations• Before starting work: Read and make sure you have understood the instructions in the manualandsupplementarydocumentationaswellasthecertificates(dependingontheapplication)

• Follow the instructions and comply with the general requirements

22 Designated use

2.2.1 ApplicationandfluidsThe device described in this manual is only meant for limit detection of bulk solids and liquids.Dependingontheversionordered,themeasuringdevicecanalsomeasurepotentiallyexplosive,flammable,poisonousandoxidizingfluids.

To ensure that the device remains in proper condition for the operation time:•Usethedeviceonlyforfluidsagainstwhichtheprocess-wettedmaterialsareadequately

resistant.•Observethelimitvalues(→page54).

222 Incorrect useThe manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper or non-designated use.

Verificationforborderlinecases:•Forspecialfluidsandfluidsforcleaning,Kirchgaesserisgladtoprovideassistanceinverifyingthecorrosionresistanceoffluid-wettedmaterials,butdoesnotacceptanywarranty or liability.

3 Product descriptionThe microwave barrier consists of the FQR56 transmitter and the FDR56 transceiver and is used for the non-contact level limit detection of powdery to lumpy bulk solids and liquids,forthepurposeofmonitoringandcountingpiecegoodsaswellasforthedetectionof build-up.

32 Functional principleThe FQR56 transmitter emits a microwave signal via an integrated horn antenna. The FDR56 transceiver directly opposite detects this signal and generates the selected output signal(relay,solid-staterelayor4-20mAcurrentoutput).

611 FDR56 transceiverThemicrowavebarrierisconfiguredontheFDR56usingafunctionselectionswitch(encodingswitch)andtwooperatingbuttons.Withthese,amongotherthink,theadjustment of the sensitivity is carried out for clear and unambiguous limit detection of the products.

Theparameterconfigurationisstoredinternallyandisretainedevenafterthesupplyvoltage is disconnected. No other operator intervention is necessary during operation.The adjustment to the process conditions only needs to be performed during initial installation. Later alterations can be performed and saved at any time.

103 ReturnThefollowingmeasuresmustbetakenbeforereturningameasuringdevice,e.g.forrepair:• Remove all residue from measuring materials which may be stuck onto the device.

Pay particular attention to seal grooves and scoring in which residue from measuring materials may stick. This is of particular importance if the measuring material poses a risktohealth,e.g.isflammable,poisonous,corrosive,carcinogenic,etc.

• Always enclose a fully completed “Declaration of Contamination” (see appendix) with the device,withoutthisformacheckorrepairisnotpossible.
