Microwave Backhaul Solutions
The biggest innovation in backhaul technology in years. We
are rewriting the rules of cost and benefits.

Why Sentinel®?
• What is interference? – A “clash” of signals from
two microwave systems on the same frequency
• What are the results? – Reduced data rates
– Dropped packets
– …Lost customers
– …Lost revenue

Rio de Janeiro Brazil – already a success case of Sentinel

MW Interference Issue to AVIAT Solved in Rio de Janeiro- Brazil.
Due to the congested spectrum in 6GHz in Rio de Janeiro, AVIAT could not connect an important link of a major carrier in the wonderful city. Using antennas ETSI Class 3 available in the market the link was unfeasible due to the large number of Radio Frequency channel with interference. All channels possessed high levels of interference in both stations. The solution was the utilization of new antennas CommScope ETSI Class 4 called SENTINEL. As expected, with SENTINEL antennas there was a significant reduction of interference and the link was established.

6GHz: congested spectrum - all channels have high interference levels (see column td) in both side.
qty: Amount of interference cases in the station
td (dB): Threshold degradation value of radio interference from third parties to channel indicated on the left.
Analysis: on the N. Sra. Pena site, cells in green with no interference. However the corresponding cells in the Mendanha site has high levels of interference. So, no free channels.

Using Antennas SENTINEL SHP3-6W. ETSI Class 4
qty: Amount of interference cases in the station
td (dB): Threshold degradation of the value of radio to interference from third parties for the channel indicated on the left.
Analysis: : On the Mendanha site, we can verify in the yellow cells, interference levels are lower than the levels of the previous cell, calculated with Class 3 antenna. The 4.2 dB degradation observed for the vertical polarization in Mendanha site (yellow cells in the right column), when inserted in the calculation, did not applied significantly degradation, so, Sentinel allowed new channels (marked in blue).
