R U L E S AN D R E G U L A T I O N S F OR C O N T E S T A N T S

1. ELIGIBILITY FOR ENTRY

a. In order to enter the Miss Cayman Islands Pageant (“the Pageant”) the Contestant shall:

b. Be single and shall not have entered into any ceremony of marriage;

c. Have attained the age of eighteen (18) years of age before she register to enter the Pageant, and shall NOThave attained the age of twenty-eight (28) by 1 January 2019*; an applicant must be a person born in the Cayman Islands or possessing Caymanian status or possessing permanent residency and who resides in the Cayman Islands as her ‘permanent and primary residence' for a period of at least six consecutive months immediately before the date of the Miss Cayman Islands Pageant (although she may have been enrolled and attended college or university elsewhere during all or part of this period).  Permanent and primary residence means the contestants’ true, fixed and permanent domicile which they intend to make their permanent home.

d. Possess Caymanian Status or the Right to be Cayman pursuant to the current Immigration Law must provide copies of a Cayman Islands passport and naturalization papers.

e. Be of good character with no criminal record save that convictions for minor traffic offences will not be taken into consideration;

f. Never have given birth to a child;

g. Not be pregnant;

h. Be possessed of charm, poise personality, intelligence, capable of handling numerous appearances if necessary, good interview skills, good stage presence, beauty of face and figure, and shall maintain the recommended range of weight for her height recommended in the guidelines issued by any reputable Fitness Association including the American Fitness Association;

i. Have graduated from High School or University; and

j. Successfully completed an interview by the Miss Cayman Islands Committee.

2. OBLIGATIONS OF CONTESTANT

a. Each Contestant will be required to find her own sponsor, with assistance provided by the MissCayman Islands Universe Committee (“the Committee”) if necessary;

b. Expenses in excess of those provided by the sponsor shall be the sole responsibility of the Contestant;

c. Each Contestant will be required to participate in all activities including without limitation, rehearsals, and functions organized by the Committee, and will comply with any instructions and directions issued by the Committee in respect thereof. Any Contestant who misses two a c t i v i t i e s without a reasonable explanation may be subject to disqualification;

d. All rehearsals and functions associated with the contest shall be promptly and punctually attended. Any Contestant who misses two rehearsals without a reasonable explanation may be subject to disqualification;

e. Without prejudice to any other obligation of the Contestant, each Contestant hereby undertakes to remain eligible to participate in the Pageant, throughout the period of the Pageant in accordance with the criteria set out in clause 1 above;

f. Each Contestant hereby agrees that in the event she becomes the Winner of the Pageant (“the Winner”) she will have carefully received and understood and shall comply with the Rules of and Conditions of Participation for National Winners issued by the organizers of any international pageants;

g. Each Contestant shall be advised of all the responsibilities expected of her by the Committee;

h. In the event that a contestant is disqualified or withdraws from the Pageant, the contestant hereby agrees to reimburse her sponsor of all sponsorship funds;

3. AUTHORITY OF COMMITTEE

a. If in the reasonable opinion of the Committee a Contestant no longer meets the eligibility requirements set out in clause 1 or is otherwise in breach of any of these Rules and Regulations, the Committee may in its absolute discretion disqualify a Contestant from continuing in the Pageant;

b. In the event of any breach by the Winner of any of her obligations as set out in clause 4 below, theCommittee may disqualify her from holding the Miss Cayman Islands Universe title;

4. OBLIGATIONS OF THE WINNER OF THE PAGEANT

a. The Winner shall sign a contract with the Ministry of Tourism or the Franchise holder and the Miss Cayman Universe Committee as soon as practical after being crowned, governing her reign as Miss Cayman;

b. The Winner shall for the period of one (1) year from the date of the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Pageant until the date her successor is appointed:

(i) Not enter into any other beauty or similar contest, unless directed by the Committee;

(ii) Adhere to all rules of eligibility set out herein;

(iii) Make herself available for travel and such other engagements to be determined by theCommittee;

(iv) Conduct herself with decorum and not commit any act of an immoral or illegal or other Information Classification: General

similar nature which in the reasonable opinion of the Committee will bring the National Winner or the Pageant into disrepute or contempt;

(v) Comply with all of the terms and conditions set out in her contract with the Ministry ofTourism and the Miss Cayman Islands Committee.

5. OBLIGATIONS OF THE 1st RUNNER-UP OF THE PAGEANT

a. The 1st Runner-up shall sign a contract with the Ministry of Tourism or the Franchise holder and the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee as soon or practical after the pageant, governing her responsibilities as 1st runner-up of t h e Miss Cayman Islands Universe pageant.

b. The 1st Runner-up shall for the period of one (1) year from the date of the Miss Cayman IslandsUniverse Pageant until the date her successor is appointed:

(i) Not enter into any other beauty or similar contest, unless directed by the Committee;

(ii) Adhere to all rules of eligibility set out herein;

(iii) Make herself available for travel and such other engagements to be determined by theCommittee;

(iv) Conduct herself with decorum and not commit any act of an immoral or illegal or other similar nature which in the reasonable opinion of the Committee will bring the 1st Runner-up or the Pageant into disrepute or contempt.

(v) Comply with all of the terms and conditions set out in her contract with the Ministry ofTourism and the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee.

6. OBLIGATIONS OF THE 2nd RUNNER-UP OF THE PAGEANT

c. The 2nd Runner-up shall sign a contract with the Ministry of Tourism or the Franchise holder and the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee as soon or practical after the pageant, governing her responsibilities as 2nd runner-up of t h e Miss Cayman Islands Universe pageant.

d. The 2nd Runner-up shall for the period of one (1) year from the date of the Miss Cayman IslandsUniverse Pageant until the date her successor is appointed:

(ii) Not enter into any other beauty or similar contest, unless directed by the Committee;

(ii) Adhere to all rules of eligibility set out herein;

(iii) Make herself available for travel and such other engagements to be determined by theCommittee;

(iv) Conduct herself with decorum and not commit any act of an immoral or illegal or other similar nature which in the reasonable opinion of the Committee will bring the 2nd Runner-up or the Pageant into disrepute or contempt.

PRIZES

Miss Cayman Islands Universe will be awarded a 4-year Scholarship valued at $70,000, a complete wardrobe for international pageants and

many other prizes.(All scholarships should be used within two years at the completion of the Miss Cayman Islands reign)

As an official Ambassador, Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2019 will be required to make appearances at special events,

both locally and overseas. The title-holder will also participate in international pageants.

The First runner-up will be awarded a 2-year Scholarship to attend the University College of the Cayman Islands, a trip to any CAL destination and

many other prizes. She will also represent the Cayman Islands at special events and be required to fill in for the Miss Cayman Islands Universe, as needed.

The Second runner-up will be awarded a 2-year Scholarship to attend the University College of the Cayman Islands, and represent the Cayman Islands

at special events along with many other prizes.
