Remote Control Point Adjustment (CPA).The controller control point can be remotely adjusted through a range of 5K usinga control point adjustment potentiometer in discharge air applications or a room sensor with control point adjustment
potentiometer in room control applications connected to terminals 2&4. The configuration parameter C.05 (CPATYP) has to beset to 1, 2 or 4 in accordance to the used potentiometer resistance range.
Remote Setpoint Adjustment (RSA).The controller setpoint can be remotely adjusted through a range of 15...30C using aroom sensor with setpoint adjustment potentiometer connected to terminals 2&4. The configuration parameter C.05 (CPATYP)has to be set to 3.
Comfort/Standby Mode. The controllers provide occupied and unoccupied temperature setpoints. Connecting a roomtemperature sensor with occupied/unoccupied switch or a presence sensor to the controller occupancy input terminals 1&4allows to change the controller into Comfort (closed contact) or Standby (open contact) mode.
Summer/Winter Compensation. When an outside air temperature sensor (T3) is connected to terminals 7&8 winter and/orsummer compensation of the main setpoint can be performed.
Summer/Winter Changeover. The occupancy input, terminals 1&4 on the R7426A controllers can alternatively be used toswitch the controller between summer (cooling) and winter (heating) operation in applications using a common valve for heatingand cooling control. In summer operation the controller provides a direct acting output (Y1), with an increase in the controlledvariable, i. e. room temperature increases, the output increases. In winter operation the controller output (Y1) is reverse acting, with a decrease in the controlled variable the output increases. Summer/Winter changeover function is activated by setting theconfiguration parameter C.15 (Y1CTRF) to 2. A potential free contact or strap-on thermostat connected to terminals 1&4 isused to switch the controller mode to cooling (contact closed) or heating (contact open) control.
Controller ON/OFF Operating Mode.Connecting an external time clock or manual switch to the controller Plant/SystemON/OFF input terminals 9&10, the controller can be switched ON or OFF. In the OFF operating mode the controllerautomatically generates zero position output signals on all outputs to drive the valve and damper actuators into the fully closedposition. In mixed air damper applications the outdoor and exhaust air dampers are closed and the return air damper is fullyopen. The time clock also switches the fan(s) OFF and drives the damper actuators (6) in full outside air applications into theclosed position by an external installed relay, if the dampers are not controlled by the controller. In full outside air applicationsthe fan(s) switch ON after a time delay to allow the dampers time to open.
NOTE: For Terminals 9&10 see the following Figure
Day/Night Setpoint Operation. An external time clock connected to the controller occupancy input terminals 1&4 providesday/night main temperature setpoint control determined by the programmed offset parameter value P.16 (SOFFS) for thoseheating or ventilation systems operating 24 hour per day.
Safe Operation of Electric Heater Battery. The high limit thermostat (7) installed close to the electric heater battery switchesthe electric air heater OFF at temperatures above its adjustable setpoint. The air flow switch (10) also switches the electric heater battery OFF in the event of fan failure (no air flow). Alternatively, thedifferential air pressure switch (9) across the discharge air fan can be used for the same function.
Filter Monitoring. The differential air pressure switch (8) closes a contact to issue an alarm at a differential pressure above itsadjustable setpoint to indicate that the filter is dirty and in need of maintenance.
Fan Monitoring. The differential air pressure switch (9) switches the fan motor OFF at a differential pressure below itsadjustable setpoint to indicate no air flow. An external time delay relay overrides the fan monitoring function for a short periodduring start-up to avoid false alarms. The monitoring function is re-established after the adjustable time delay period.

Temperature Control. The discharge air temperature sensor (1) measures theactual value and the controller (4) compares this value with the desiredsetpoint. If a deviation between the two values exists, the controller generates a3-position control signal to reposition the valve (5) to maintain the desireddischarge air temperature. In heating applications the controller output isreverse acting and direct acting for cooling applications.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7) switches the heatingcoil pump ON - if OFF - at temperatures below its adjustable setpoint. In parallelit provides a digital input signal to the controller (4) to switch the fan(s) OFF andclose the dampers by an external installed relay logic and fully open the heatingvalve (5) to prevent the heating coil from freezing.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internalcontroller real time clock the different operating control modes Comfort,Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controllerautomatically fully closes the heating valve (5), switches the fan(s) OFF andthereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delayrelay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damperactuators can be used to start the fan.

Temperature Control. The discharge air temperature sensor

If a deviation between thetwo values exists, the controller generates a 3-position controlsignal on output Y1or Y3 to reposition either the energyrecovery valve (5b) or the heating valve (5a) in sequence tomaintain the desired discharge air temperature. In an air-glycol-air heat recovery system it is important, to avoidicing of the exhaust air coil. This is achieved by the differentialpressure switch (10). If the differential pressure switchindicates icing of the coil, the control valve (5b) will be closedby an additional field mounted relay. Return air and warm waterwill be circulated through the exhaust air heat recovery coil tomelt the ice deposits.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7)switches the heating coil pump ON, - if OFF - at temperatures below its adjustable setpoint. In parallel it provides a digital inputsignal to the controller (4) to fully open the heating valve (5a), to switch OFF the fan(s) and close the dampers (6) by anexternal installed relay logic to protect the heating coil from freezing.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operatingcontrol modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected.

(1) measures the actual value and the controller (4)compares this value with the desired setpoint. If a deviationbetween the two values exists, the controller generates a3-position control signal on output Y1 or Y2 to repositioneither the energy recovery valve (5b) or the cooling valve (5a)in sequence to maintain the desired discharge airtemperature. If the actual temperature is below the setpoint, the controllermodulates via output Y1 the heat recovery valve (5b) into theopen position. If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than25% of the throttling range (Xp1) - dead band betweenheating and cooling - the controller starts to open the energyrecovery valve (5b) to reclaim cooling energy. If thetemperature continues to increase and the energy recovery
valve is fully open, the controller (4) generates an output signal via Y2 to open the cooling coil valve (5b).In an air-glycol-air heat recovery system it is important to avoid icing of the exhaust air coil. This is achieved by the differentialpressure switch (10). If the differential pressure switch indicates icing of the coil, the control valve (5b) will be closed by anadditional, field mounted relay. Return air and warm water will circulate through the heat recovery exhaust air coil to melt theice deposits.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operatingcontrol modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically fully closesthe valves (5a and 5b), switches the fan(s) OFF and thereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.

(1) measures the actual value and the controller (4) comparesthis value with the desired setpoint. If a deviation between thetwo values exists, the controller generates a 3-position controlsignal to reposition either the energy recovery valve (5c) or theheating valve (5a) or the cooling valve (5b) in sequence tomaintain the desired discharge air temperature. If the actual temperature is below the setpoint, the controllermodulates first via output Y1 the heat recovery valve (5c) intothe open position and if fully open, the heating valve (5a) isopened in sequence via output Y3. If the actual temperatureincreases the sequence of operation is reversed. If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than 25% of the throttling range (Xp1) - dead band between heating andcooling - the controller starts to open the energy recovery valve (5c) to reclaim cooling energy. If the temperature continues toincrease and the energy recovery valve is fully open the controller (4) generates an output signal via Y2 to open the cooling coilvalve (5b).
In an air-glycol-air heat recovery system it is important to avoid icing of the exhaust air coil. This is achieved by the differentialpressure switch (10). If the differential pressure switch indicates icing of the coil, the control valve (5c) will be closed by anadditional, field mounted relay. Return air and warm water will circulate through the heat recovery exhaust air coil to melt theice deposits.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7) switches the heating coil pump ON - if OFF - at temperatures below itsadjustable setpoint. In parallel it provides a digital input signal to the controller (4) to fully open the heating valve (5a), to switchOFF the fan(s) and thereby to close the damper actuators by an external installed relay logic to protect the heating coil fromfreezing.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operatingcontrol modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically fully closesthe valves (5a, 5b and 5c) and switches the fan(s) OFF and thereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.

(1) measures the actual value and the controller (4) comparesthis value with the desired setpoint. If a deviation between thetwo values exists, the controller generates two 0(2)10Vdccontrol signals in sequence via outputs Y1 and Y3corresponding to the 0100% correctional signal to repositionthe mixed air dampers or the heating valve to maintain thedesired discharge air temperature.
The minimum outside air damper position adjustment(MINPOS) on the controller determines the position to whichthe outside air damper will be driven even though thetemperature input condition demands that it should drive to thefully closed position.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7)switches the heating coil pump ON - if OFF - at temperatures

Used with ventilation system using electric air heating, where the base heating load is met by a radiator heating system andthe ventilation system is used to ensure the supply of outside air.
Instead of electric heating, the controller can be used to control up to 6-stages of direct expansion cooling. The controller can
be configured to provide sequence control of electric heating and cooling as follows:- Heating mode: 4 stages, sequentially switched steps to operate external relays or
4 binary coded switching outputs to provide up to 15 load steps.- Cooling mode: 2 stages, sequentially switched steps to operate external relays.

Temperature Control. The discharge air temperature sensor(1) measures the actual value and the controller (4) comparesthis value with the desired setpoint. If a deviation between the
two values exists, the controller generates a pulse widthmodulated output signal on output Y3 to control the solid staterelay (5a) or a 3-position control signal on output Y2 toreposition the cooling valve (5b) to maintain the desireddischarge air temperature.
If the temperature is below the heating setpoint the solid staterelay(s) (5a) is modulated via output Y3 and if the temperatureis above the cooling setpoint the cooling valve (5b) ismodulated via output Y2.
Damper Control. If the controller switches from OFF to ONmode (Comfort, Standby or Night) the controller drives thedamper actuators to the open position via output Y1.If the controller switches to the OFF mode, it drives thedampers and valves automatically to their closed positions.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operatingcontrol modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically generateson all outputs a 0% output signal to switch OFF the electric air heater, to fully close the cooling valve (5b) and dampers (6)and to switch OFF the fan(s).
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a 3 minute time delay to allow the dampers time toopen. As alternative the end-position switches of the damper actuators can be used to start the fan.

Temperature Control. The discharge air temperature sensor (1)measures the actual value and the controller (4) compares thisvalue with the desired setpoint. If a deviation between the twovalues exists, the controller generates the corresponding controlsignals to maintain the desired discharge air temperature.
If the actual temperature is below the setpoint the controller (4)generates first a 3-position control signal via output Y1 toreposition the energy recovery valve (5c) to reclaim heatingenergy. If the temperature continues to decrease and the energyrecovery valve is fully open, the controller generates a pulsewidth modulated output via output Y3 to drive the solid state relay(5a) for proportional control of the electric air heater. If thetemperature increases the sequence of operation is reversed.
If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than 25%of the throttling range (Xp1) - dead band between heating andcooling - the controller starts to open the energy recovery valve
(5c) to reclaim cooling energy.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operatingcontrol modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically fully closesthe valves (5b and 5c) and switches the electric air heater and the fan(s) OFF and thereby close the dampers (6) by an externalinstalled relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delayrelay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damper
actuators can be used to start the fan.

Temperature Control. The discharge air temperature sensor(1) measures the actual value and the controller (4) comparesthis value with the desired setpoint. If a deviation between thetwo values exists, the controller generates in correspondence to
the 0...100% correctional signal 0(2)...10Vdc control signals insequence via outputs Y1, Y2 and Y3 to position the mixed airdampers or cooling valve or to drive the electric current valve tomaintain the desired discharge air temperature. If the actualtemperature is below the setpoint, the controller generates firsta 0(2)...10Vdc control signal via output Y1 to reposition themixed air damper (6). If the temperature continues to decreaseand the mixed air dampers reached the minimum position(MINPOS), the controller generates a 0(2)...10Vdc controlsignal via output Y3 to drive the electric current valve (5a) forproportional control of the electric air heater. If the temperatureincreases the sequence of operation is reversed.
If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than 25% of the throttling range (Xp1) - dead band between heating andcooling - the controller starts to close the mixed air damper (6). If the temperature continues to increase and the mixed airdampers reached the minimum position (MINPOS), the controller (4) generates a 0(2)...10Vdc control signal via Y2 to positionthe cooling valve (5b).
The minimum outside air damper position adjustment (MINPOS) on the controller determines the position to which the outsideair damper will be driven even though the temperature input condition demands that it should drive to the fully closed position.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operatingcontrol modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically generates0Vac (0%) control signals via output Y1, Y2 and Y3 to fully close the outside and exhaust air dampers (6) and the cooling valve(5b), open the return air damper and to switch OFF the electric air heater via the current valve (5a). In addition the fans areswitched OFF by the Plant/System On/Off output.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the Plant/System On/Off output switches the fans ON and the controllerprovides automatic control.

Temperature Control With Low Limit Control. The return or room airtemperature sensor (1a, b or c) and the discharge air temperature sensor (2)measure the actual values and the controller (4) compares these values with thedesired setpoints (W1) and (Wlim). If a deviation between these values exists, thelowest deviation signal of both is selected by the controller. Depending on thisdeviation signal the controller generates a 3-position control signal to repositionthe valve (5) to maintain the desired room or discharge air temperature. Inheating applications the controller output is reverse acting and direct acting forcooling applications.
Cascade Temperature Control. The return or room air temperature sensor (1a, bor c) measures the actual value and the controller (4) compares this value with the desired setpoint (W1) of the master loop.Depending on the deviation an internal setpoint for the submaster loop, the discharge air temperature, is calculated. At zerodeviation the discharge air temperature is controlled at the programmed setpoint (Wcas) and if a deviation exists, the dischargeair setpoint is altered. The reset span of the discharge air setpoint is limited by the reset span adjustment (Rcas) and the limit
setting (Wlim). The discharge air temperature sensor (2) measures the actual value and the controller compares this value with the desiredinternal calculated setpoint. If a deviation exists, the controller generates a 3-position control signal to reposition the valve (5) tomaintain the desired discharge air temperature. In heating applications the controller output is reverse acting and direct actingfor cooling applications.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7) switches the heating coil pump ON - if OFF - at temperatures below itsadjustable setpoint. In parallel it provides a digital input signal to the controller (4) to switch the fan(s) OFF and close thedampers by an external installed relay logic and fully open the heating valve (5) to prevent the heating coil from freezing.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operatingcontrol modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically fully closesthe heating valve (5), switches the fan(s) OFF and thereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delayrelay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damperactuators can be used to start the fan.

Temperature Control. The return or room air temperature sensor (1a, b or c)measures the actual value and the controller (4) compares this value with thedesired setpoint. If a deviation between the two values exists, the controller(4) generates a 3-position control signal to reposition the valve (5) to maintainthe desired room or return air temperature. In heating applications thecontroller output is reverse acting and direct acting for cooling applications.
Time Control.Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internalcontroller real time clock the different operating control modes Comfort,Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode thecontroller automatically fully closes the heating valve (5) and switches the fanOFF.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode the Plant/System On/offoutput switches the fan ON and the controller provides automatic control.

Temperature Control. The return or room air temperaturesensor (1a, b or c) measures the actual value and the controller(4) compares this value with the desired setpoint (W1) of themaster loop. Depending on the deviation an internal setpoint forthe submaster loop, the discharge air temperature, iscalculated. At zero deviation the discharge air temperature iscontrolled at the programmed setpoint (Wcas) and if adeviation exists, the discharge air setpoint is altered. The resetspan of the discharge air setpoint is limited by the reset spanadjustment (Rcas) and the limit setting (Wlim). The discharge air temperature sensor (2) measures the actualvalue and the controller (4) compares this value with the desired internal calculated setpoint. If a deviation between the twovalues exists, the controller generates a 3-position control signal on outputs Y1 and Y3 to reposition either the energy recoveryvalve (5a) or the heating valve (5b) in sequence to maintain the desired discharge air temperature.
In an air-glycol-air heat recovery system it is important, to avoid icing of the exhaust air coil. This is achieved by the differentialpressure switch (10). If the differential pressure switch indicates icing of the coil, the control valve (5b) will be closed by anadditional, field mounted relay. Return air and warm water will be circulated through the exhaust air heat recovery coil to meltthe ice deposits.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7) switches the heating coil pump ON, - if OFF - at temperatures belowits adjustable setpoint. In parallel it provides a digital input signal to the controller (4) to fully open the heating valve (5a), toswitch OFF the fan(s) and close the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic to protect the heating coil from freezing.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delayrelay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damperactuators can be used to start the fan.
