A bioprocess is a specific process that uses complete living cells or their components (e.g., bacteria, enzymes, chloroplasts) to obtain desired products.
Bioprocessing and Biotechnology is very similar as in biotechnology we take different microorganisms to develop or make a product through different technological applications.
In Biotechnology ,Bioprocessing is a kind of bioengineering.
BIOPROCESS
Bioengineering is the application in which we use principles of engineering and life sciences to tissues, cells and molecules and matter.
We use this knowledge to work and manipulate these principles to achieve a result that can improve functions in plants and animals, and their products .
Either on industrial basis, agricultural basis, food production, pharmaceutical industries to chemical or green tech industries etc.
For example: genetically modified organisms.
a) Alcoholic beverage productionb) Food fermentationc) Prebioticsd) Probiotics and nuetraceuticalse) Solid substrate fermentationf) Organic acids productiong) Single cell protien
Bioprocessing as a route to food ingredients
UPSTREAM processing
FERMENTATION
DOWNSTREAM processing
Methods involve in bioprocessing of food ingredients
UPSTREAM PROCESSING:The upstream stage of production involve searching for extracting raw materials. This part of the process simply finds and extracts the raw material.
FERMENTATION:In fermentation a specific strain is put in to the fermentor to culture in nutrient medium to maintain physico chemical properties and covert it in to desired products.
How bioprocessing does in food ingredient?
DOWNSTREAM PROCESSING:This process take material collectede during upstream and that in to a fermented product in to a final produst for storage as well for direct consumer consumption.
