ABOUT HSM In 1828, Governor Lewis Cass and explorer Henry Schoolcraft founded what is known today as our state’s oldest cultural organization: the Historical Society of Michigan (HSM). Today, we continue the work they started and help preserve, promote, and share Michigan’s history. We do this through programs such as Michigan History Day, publications like the bimonthly Michigan History magazine, history workshops, and so much more. We also offer many exciting opportunities and benefits to our members, which includes subscriptions to history magazines, discounts at our con-ferences and workshops, and more. Annual dues range from $25 to $50 depending on the level of membership (and we offer student discounts for Level 1 and Level 3 memberships!). Sound interesting? To join—or to learn more about the Society—just give us a call at (800) 692-1828 or visit www.hsmichigan.org.

THANK YOU JUDGES

Head Judge: Sean O’Neil, Grand Valley State University

7

Please be prepared at least 20 minutes before your scheduled interview time. If the judges are ready ear-ly, they may call you in before your scheduled time.

You are responsible for the placement and removal of all props or equipment used in your entry.

All exhibits must be in place in the exhibit hall before 9:15 am. We ask that students with exhibits leave their projects up until 3:00 pm so that the public may have an opportunity to see their work. Michigan Histo-ry Day, the Historical Society of Michigan, and Sagi-naw Valley State University are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

We understand that you want to give your students all the moral support you can, but please note that exhibit and paper judging is not open to the public. Exhibits will be open to the public after judging, and paper en-tries will later be on display later as well. Please DO NOT TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS during per-formances or at any time during the judging. Also, please do not enter a room while judging is taking place. It is distracting for both the students and the judges. Thank you!

Thank you!
