Benchmarks

CONTINUING THE TREND LINE…

We can’t just add the scores for the Class of 2013 to this trend line due to:

• The 2013 ACT scores include over 9,000 special education students who were given extended time. Although the scores are “ACT reportable” these scores were NOT counted 2008-2012 thus the data is skewed.

• ACT recalibrates the College Readiness Benchmarks periodically based on the data they collect- the last time this was done was 2006. For 2013- the College Readiness Standard in Reading went up 1 point and in Science is went down 1 point.

NOTE TO SELF…

• How do our school’s Explore and Plan pie charts compare to the State averages?

• How many “bubble” students do you have in each content area? What can be done to ensure that these students will get 2 points more?

• What can be done to support students who are 3 or more points below college readiness?

MAXIMIZING OUR DATA

• Attend one of MASSP’s EPAS workshops to learn how to break down Explore and Plan data to:• Identify cohort areas of strength and weakness• Remediate curriculum and instruction based on data• Identify individual student areas of strength and

weakness• Develop remediation programs for individual students

based on data• Identify strategies for school improvement based on data• Progress monitor and track success

NEXT MASSP workshop is on 9/24 in Lansing: http://mymassp.com/EPAS_intro
