College Prep Placement All students entering Miami
Dade College must take the CPT Reading, Sentence Skills, and Math Exams. The CPT Exam is mandated by the Florida Department of Education for all undergraduates entering tertiary education.
Students who score 83 points on the CPT Reading and Sentence Skills Exams are placed in ENC 1101
Depending on the Reading and Sentence Skills scores, students are placed in one of three levels of College Prep Reading and Writing.
• Students earn a single grade for each course (Lecture and Lab). In order to pass a course, the student must pass the course with an “S”—Successful. The other grades are “P”—Progress, and “U”—Unsatisfactory. To earn the grade of “S” students must complete satisfactory course work, lab work, and pass the final exams for each level.
• In ENC 0021 and REA 003, students must take the State Final Exams.
• After students have passed ENC 0021 and REA 003 with an “S” they may register for ENC 1101.
