1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF MYBRIDE

In order to establish a company which is can compete with another company, there is

exist a company which is given name as Mybride is a wedding company that leading

other wedding company in Malaysia with higher total revenue every year. Setting the

benchmark in the producing of wedding services in Malaysia, Mybride, as a public

listed company has earned a place in the country’s of corporate successes.

Mybride was established on 1 January 2008, set up in response to the Malaysian

Government’s invitation to several services companies to get more supportive from

Malaysian. Mybride name today is well established among Malaysian as well as

foreigners, especially due to the wedding day.

This company was established as a leading chain of general wedding stores with full

of wedding instrument to satisfy the various needs and desires of customers. Mybride

integrated services with principal activities in generating the wedding stuffs,

advertising the services, supplying the services, and generate income. We have

succeeded in developing and promoting our services as being synonymous with

excellent in respect of quality, exclusivity, glamorous, and reasonable. Mybride offers

wedding package like bridal suite, make-up, canopy, catering services, photography,

wedding card and wedding gift. Services given by Mybride are the best among the best

because we have hired the staffs with high qualification to work with our company.

Services with the best and qualified staff, have garnered unbelievable responses

amongst the people who will become a bride and groom.

The gallery or Mybride is situated in the city center and vast middle income of group

in order to suit with the target of the company, to make everyone feel satisfied with the

services offered with reasonable price. It is located at Lot 222, Wisma Puteri, Jalan

Kebun Sultan, 15000 Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

As the other company, Mybride also have it own strategy that called marketing

strategy to generate customer and achieve the main goal of the company. “YOUR

SATISFACTION IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY”, is the motto develops by Mybride to

show the promise to our customer for the great services for them. We always make

sure that our services are better than other, so that our customer will always ask for our

services. Besides that, Mybride also offer the satisfaction of customer who deals with

us and once they have come to us, they will always come to see us again. That is our

promise to our customer that suit with our motto. Mybride has its own principle that

will put customer satisfaction in the first priority. Under this principle, we are

determined to achieve global management standard while being the best services

provider in the local community. Mybride offers a more choices of wedding package

focused on style, quality, and variety, in a contemporary ambience targeting the

middle and upper income customers. The most important is the Mybride’s services

will give high satisfaction and customers will experience the feeling of luxuries.

Mybride is present to the entire customers with the best services over the world. There

are always something for everyone, from exquisite pieces to simple design, from

irresistible collection of wedding dress to dazzling custom-made orders are available

to suit our patrons taste and budget. Plus, Mybride also have their own designer that

surely can give the high satisfaction towards the customers who want to design their

own wedding dress. The customers who deal with Mybride are people who want to

make a wedding ceremony, engagement, or other reservations.

The board of director is consisting of General Manager, Marketing Manager, Financial

Manager and Human Resources Manager. General Manager of Mybride is Rohayu

Binti Mohamed, the Marketing Maneger is Norzulaida Binti Kamaruddin, Noor

Fazlina Binti Abd Raman as a Financial Manager, and the last one is Siti Nor Fatin

Binti Ghazmi as a Human Resources Manager. Mybride also has the other staffs that

generate the operation together so that, the company will achieve the main goal which

is to get the maximum profits and achieve a higher satisfaction among the customer

who deal with Mybride. Budget for Mybride is RM250,000.

1.2 MYBRIDE’S LOGO

Mybride name come out from the inspiration on the beauty and awesome bride on the

wedding day. Mybride believe that everybody have their own dream and crazily about

their wedding day. In that important day, everyone would like to be as a king and

queen so that, the day will be the most historical day to be remember always. There,

Mybride was establishes to make the dream come true. For people who want to serve

themselves just come for us and we will bring the quality and the best services for

them.

Mybride logo are decorate with this design to give an exclusive look and prestige with

the combination of the design and colours, Mybride believe that who come to this

gallery may feel satisfied. Mybride logo’s have several implicit meaning. There are:

2.0 PLANNING

In order to achieve the goal that have been set up in Mybride, we have make a

planning which is process of setting goals and defining the action necessary that lead

to it. We have set up our own goals in our company include short term goals and long

term goals. We also develop mission statement that provides strategic direction to the

members of an organization and keeps them focused on common goals. The objectives

of our organization are target towards which Mybride is directed. In developing

Mybride, we have to concern about specific organization situation that typically do not

recur. So we have design single use plan to meet the unique situation. Here we state

the mission statement, goals, objectives and single use plan that have been set up:

2.1 MISSION STATEMENT

Mybride is a services company that provided various type of wedding package. For

instance bride suite, canopy, make-up, catering services, photography, wedding card

and wedding gift. This company focused on the middle and upper income customers

as a target market. We also have the best strategy, which is provided the most satisfied

services which great package and discount.

2.2 GOALS

Mybride is established with its own goal which is want to expand our bride gallery to

the international level so that it can be well-known and famous company that provide

the best services for customer. Mybride will compete with another bride gallery

towards developing attractive integrated commercial product and services which our

customer can fully enjoy, such as latest fashion and designs of wedding package. We

will generate more profits for the services provided by Mybride. To fulfill or realize

the goal, Mybride has set up the necessary action to achieve this goal. In the future,

Mybride not only will be in Malaysia, but also in Paris, London and other states.

2.3 OBJECTIVES

We have set up the objectives for Mybride to guide for decision making, organization

efficiency and consistency, as well as performance evaluation. Objectives of Mybride

are achieves the goals to develop our company to be a famous and well-known in

Malaysia and other state. We have to make sure that our staffs are well train. Objective

is the prime part of plan in Mybride because all the activities in Mybride are focused

on these objectives.

2.4 SINGLE USE PLAN

As a big company, Mybride has set up the way to indentify a specific organizational

situation that does not recur. That why, single use plan is specifically design to make

the needs of the unique situation. Since, the situation is investigates, we have develop

the alternative to solve the problem. One of the examples of the uncertainty condition

is theft. We have chooses several solution that lead to this problem. For the example

use the technology or human effort such as use close-circuit television (CCTV) or

security guard. In case to avoid theft, a decision making has been made which is to put

on close-circuit television (CCTV). There are several differences between close-circuit

television (CCTV) and security guard that cause we choose close-circuit television

(CCTV):

The reason we choose to put on the close-circuit television (CCTV) because there are

more advantages rather than hire the security guard. Although, the close-circuit

television (CCTV) is more expensive but it is valuable to have it based on its function.

Cost to put on the close-circuit television (CCTV) is about RM2000 each (include the

installation). The close-circuit television (CCTV) is more flexible.

3.0 ORGANIZING

3.1 ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Mybride has design it organizational structure in the grouping of work activities of the

separate parts of an organization that called departmentation. It involves the people

and activities together under a supervision of a common manager like marketing,

financial and human resources managers.

3.1.1 DEPARTMENTATION BY FUNCTION

Once an entity's work is divided in Mybride, the jobs are grouped together based on

the operations plan that provides in departmentation by function. Departmentation by

function is design so that everyone in Mybride involves in one functional activity,

such as marketing, financial, and human resources. It is the most widely basis for

establishing departments within the formal structure of Mybride and mainly practiced

that offer limited line of products and services to make efficient use of limited

resources. Departmentation by function encourage of expertise and subordinates in

Mybride to suite with stable environment. This means that each department like

marketing, financial and human resources performing similar duties with their own

subordinates under one activity.

i. GENERAL MANAGER

General Manager of Mybride is Rohayu Binti Mohamed. The main function of

General Manager is to plan, organize, lead and control our organization. Her

responsibility is to align Mybride, internally and externally with our own mission

strategy. She is responsible for guiding employees and achieving the goals and

objectives of Mybride and ensures that all processes and practices are working in a

proper manner. Her duty is to set up objectives, policy, strategies and make long term

decision. General Manager is responsible to manage several departments in Mybride

likes marketing, financial and human resource, which is responsible for different tasks.

She also need to carry the highest-ranking corporate officer, administrator, corporate

administrator, executive, or executive officer in charge of total management of

Mybride and included as in internal communication and press release. Communicating

with client and attracting new project to the company for execution and finalization are

also her duties. She also conduct quarterly, semiannual, and yearly general meeting

representing the profits, gains and achievements the company. She must have a

balance of internal and external initiatives to build a sustainable company.

ii. MARKETING DEPARTMENT

Our marketing manager is Norzulaida Binti Kamaruddin that in charge of services,

prices, place and promotion. The primary responsibility of a marketing manager is to

formulate the contents of marketing mix and put forth an effective marketing plan. She

has to be in touch with the management to develop marketing strategies for the

products and services by Mybride to launch. It will control the production and overall

performance of services. She will interpret general manager directives into operating

plan and made implementation decision. Then, direct and make short-term operating

decision. She also has to keep an eye on the current state of the market and the details

of the competitors in the same class. Before the finalization of the marketing plan, she

has to conduct an exhaustive market research that will really help in the advertising

and promotional campaigns of the product. She has to supervise the daily work of

sales, marketing, advertising, and product promotion executives. She also has to

discuss with the company management regarding the pricing strategies and budget of

the marketing campaigns. Others duties of her is to overseeing if the product is

advertised effectively through all decided sources of media such as television,

newspapers, handouts, magazines, etc. Researching on methods to improve the quality

and efficiency of current products and services of the company is also one of his major

job duties.

iii. HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT

Human resource management refers to the coherent and strategic approach to

understand the needs of the people working in a firm. Human resources manager that

hired by Mybride is Siti Nor Fatin Binti Ghazmi. Her evolved as a serious discipline in

the business world to cultivate a positive work culture in the organization, motivates

employees, streamline the recruitment process and provide employee training. Also,

her function is to work in tandem with all the departments of a firm in order to monitor

and decipher the needs of the employees. The human resource management

department acts as a bridge between the CEO or the Managing Director of the

company and the various branches like marketing and financial. She works on the

productiveness of the employee by providing motivation, compensating benefit and

safety and health. It also develops the indicator to measure the performance of the

employees to make sure any promotion and increasing of salary is based on the high

productivity. Manager is carried out the function as the function as the entities

organizations form to organize people, reporting relationships, and work in a way that

best supports the accomplishment of the company goals. Her duties consist of job

posting, hiring, conducting recruitment exams (if any) and interviewing. Other

functions of a human resource manager are to maintain excellent professional relations

with the educational institutions and recruitment agencies. 

iv. FINANCIAL DEPARTMENT

Our finance manager is Noor Fazlina Binti Abd.Raman. Her responsibilities is involve

in supplying an efficient financial blue print and elucidating all the financial data for

an organization, while minimizing costs and maximizing profits. Her main activities in

Mybride are to assist with preparation of the preparation of the budget in our company.

Besides that, she also implements the financial policies and procedures in the

company. She needs to ensure that the long term objective of financial growth for the

firm is met adequately. By directing and implementing financial strategies, she ensures

that all financial goals of the firm are met adequately.A financial manager is

responsible for supervising and handling financial reports, investment portfolios,

accounting, and all kinds of financial analysis for an organization. She manages the

cash flow for an organization by supervising balance sheets, income statements, and

the costs and revenue model. The primary objective is to generate future revenue

streams for Mybride, while effectively managing the existing investments. She is also

responsible for budgetary decisions and planning in Mybride. Additionally, she must

be well versed in the technical aspects of all kinds of financial decisions. This requires

an in depth knowledge of various statuary litigation and legal regulations. She has to

deal in decisions involving capital investment, equity, and debt, along with paying

dividends to shareholders. In addition, a corporate finance manager deals in decisions

related to investment banking to raise capital for the company. She achieves this by

trading in securities and bonds.

3.2 LOCUS OF DECISION MAKING

Mybride has to make strategic and operational decisions. Centralization and

Decentralization are two opposite ways to transfer decision-making power and to

change the organizational structure of organizations accordingly. In centralization,

authority is retain at the top of organization in Mybride which from General Manager.

In other side is decentralization which is authority is passed down to lower level of

Mybride. This means that department manager like marketing, financial and human

resources manager gain authority from general manager to make decision.

i. CENTRALIZATION

General Manager made the policy, vision, missions, motto, planning, organizing,

controlling, and leading for Mybride. She has the authority in decision making for

Mybride for choosing the best alternative for reaching objectives. All the important

decision and actions at the lower level, all subjects and actions at the lower level

are subject to the approval of general manager.

Department manager gain the authority from general manager that lead to the

process of decision making in choosing the best alternatives for reaching

objectives. General Manager of Mybride is responsible for receiving the leave

application for the whole of the concern.

4.0 LEADING

4.1 LEADERSHIP

Leadership is the process of directing and influencing the task related activities of

group members in Mybride. Leadership is important in Mybride to encourage

teamwork and motivate employee to generate good work. That why we have chose

situational leadership approached that focuses on situational factors influencing

managerial style.

4.2 SITUATIONAL APPROACH OF LEADERSHIP

In clarifying the path, leaders may be directive or give vague hints. In removing

roadblocks, they may scour the path or help the follower move the bigger blocks. In

increasing rewards, they may give occasional encouragement or pave the way with

gold. This variation in approach will depend on the situation, including the follower's

capability and motivation, as well as the difficulty of the job and other contextual

factors. The styles of the leaders in Mybride will depend on situational factors such as

leader member relation, task structure, position power, employees characteristic,

experience, and expectation as well as Mybride structure and policies. The theory that

leads to the situational leadership approached is path goal theory.

4.2.1 PATH GOAL THEORY

The Path-Goal Theory of Leadership was developed in Mybride to describe the way that

leaders encourage and support their followers in achieving the goals they have been set

by making the path that they should take clear and easy.There are four styles of

leadership in path goal theory:

i. Supportive leadership

Supportive leadership considering the needs of the follower, showing concern for

their welfare and creating a friendly working environment. This includes

increasing the follower's self-esteem and making the job more interesting. This

approach is best when the work is stressful, boring or hazardous. Specific advice

is given to the group and ground rules and structure are established. For example,

when the followers lack of self confidence, leader will be courteous and friendly

to them. They will be more concern for being and needs. They also have to be

open and approachable. Leaders need to balance equal treatment with status. As a

result, it will increase the confidence to achieve work outcome among the

employees.

ii. Directive leadership

Telling followers what needs to be done and giving appropriate guidance along

the way. This includes giving them schedules of specific work to be done at

specific times. Rewards may also be increased as needed and tell them what they

should be do. This may be used when the task is unstructured and complex and

the follower is inexperienced. This increases the follower's sense of security and

control and hence is appropriate to the situation. Good relations are promoted with

the group and sensitivity to subordinates' needs is shown. For example, when the

employees of Mybride in the situation of ambiguous job. Leaders have to tell

what is expected, how and when to do it and how to fits with others. They must

scedule, procedure and regulate the task. This action will lead to clarity path to

reward.

iii. Participative leadership

Consulting with followers and taking their ideas into account when making

decisions and taking particular actions. This approach is best when the followers

are expert and their advice is both needed and they expect to be able to give it.

Decision making is based on consultation with the group and information is

shared with the group. For example, in the situation of incorrect reward,

employees can share work problems, solicit suggestions and concerns. Leaders

also should include them in decision making. By doing these, leaders can clarify

the followers need and change rewards.

iv. Achievement-oriented leadership

Setting challenging goals, both in work and in self-improvement (and often

together). High standards are demonstrated and expected. The leader shows faith

in the capabilities of the follower to succeed. This approach is best when the task

is complex.Challenging goals are set and high performance is encouraged while

confidence is shown in the groups' ability. For example, some employees feel that

the jobs given to them are lack of challenge. So, leaders should set the

challenging goals and seek continuous improvement. Leaders have to expect

highest performance from the employees. Both of employees and leaders must

confident in effort and achievement. As a result, the goals set up by Mybride are

high and full of satisfaction.

5.0 CONTROL

5.1 Organizational control

Organizational control is the systematic process which managers regulate activities in

Mybride to make them consistent with the expectations established in plans and to

help manager to achieve all predetermined standards of performance. Managers must

include the process of control adopted by Mybride.

5.1.1 Control method

In providing services to customer, Mybride has set up control focal points to controls

and regulate organizational activities. Control focal point was set up to make sure that

activities in Mybride are consistent with the expectations establish in plan. We have

concern about the input, transformation process and output. First of all, we have found

the supplier to supply the wedding stuff to our company like canopy, wedding dress,

photography, catering, bridal suit, wedding card and make-up. In order to give services

to our customer, we must have our own stuff. So, we have buys completed equipment

of wedding to give services. We also hire an experienced worker to fill with position

in Mybride. For examples, we have hired graduation workers to be photographer in

providing wedding services. In generating input, we have to consider about

feedforward control. After that, we make the transformation process for equipment

that focuses on concurrent control. We have decorates our gallery to look different

from other gallery so that people being more attracted to our gallery. Then, we make

grading for each of our product to give services so that can fulfill the satisfaction of

the customer. Other than that, we have advertises of our services through mass media.

For example, we have our own website to share the information of wedding services in

Mybride. So, for those who are interested, they can search at http://mybride.com.my .

Lastly, we have generates output from the customer. For those who are coming at our

gallery will make decision either to use our services or others. Feedback control needs

to be considers because it leads to the customer satisfaction. As a result, customer will

ask for our services.

5.1.2 Control Process

The control process in Mybride involves carefully collecting information

about a system, process, person, or group of people in order to make

necessary decisions about each. Managers set up control systems that consist

of four key steps:

i. Establish standards to measure performance.

 Within Mybride overall strategic plan, general managers define goals for

organizational departments in specific, operational terms that include

standards of performance to compare with organizational activities.

ii. Measure actual performance. 

Mybride has prepared formal reports of performance measurements that

manager review regularly. These measurements have been related to the

standards set in the first step of the control process. For example, if sales

growth is a target, the organization should have a means of gathering and

reporting sales data.

iii. Compare performance with the standards.

This step compares actual activities to performance standards. When

managers read computer reports or walk through their plans, they identify

whether actual performance meets, exceeds, or falls short of standards.

Typically, performance reports simplify such comparison by placing the

performance standards for the reporting period alongside the actual

performance for the same period and by computing the variance, that is,

the difference between each actual amount and the associated standard.

iv. Take corrective actions. 

When performance deviates from standards, managers must determine

what changes, if any, are necessary and how to apply them. In the

productivity and quality-centered environment, workers and managers are

often empowered to evaluate their own work. After the evaluator

determines the cause or causes of deviation, manager can take the fourth

step to make corrective action. The most effective course may be

prescribed by policies or may be best left up to employees' judgment and

initiative.

5.1.3 C ontrolling activities

In Mybride, there are exist controlling activities to control all the process that

happens in our organization. For example, we have set the performance standards

in Mybride which is the satisfaction of the customer will be the first priority in

given services. This performance standard is related to the goals of Mybride. After

that, we will measure the actual performance either our staff give the best services

to the customer or not, and either it is related to the standard or not. Our manager

has makes a report of the performance measurement. We have put the services

growth as our target. Mybride has calculates the means by gathering sales data.

Then, we have compared the actual performance of our staff with performance

standard by comparing the report of the actual performance with the performance

standard. The satisfaction of the customer is about 75% rather than the

performance standard that have been set up which is 80%. We have detected that

the actual performance of our staff cannot give the higher satisfaction of the

customer because customer feel that our services is quite expensive. So, we have

to make corrective action. In order to solve the problem, we make the initiative to

deal with the customer about the price first before we give services to them. We

will give the services which is affordable for them to seek of our services. For the

customer satisfaction, we will give the opportunity to them to state the price that

they need, then we will tell them what they can get from our services based on

that price. So, our customer will have their satisfaction.

6.0 CONCLUSION

Mybride Bhd is one of the companies that really focused on their satisfaction on their

customers and best quality of our services. Mybride Bhd has provided many services

to ensure the customers satisfied with our services on their important day.

Mybride make customers feel the luxurious and make them to come again to our

gallery. Mybride give their best services to the customers by provided the best services

and make the customers dream come true. That the promise of Mybrideto the

customer. We hope that Mybride will be the most popular among the other gallery so

that we can bring Mybride name to the world.
