Supply of Metris Metris is a technically complex product including intricate curved carcasses and fascias. It is not suited to on-siteassembly. We strongly advise that Metris kitchens are assembled by your kitchen manufacturer prior to installationto ensure the complete product will function as intended to the benefit of your fitter, and most importantly of all, theend-user. PWS is able to provide full technical details to assist customers in the manufacturing of Metris kitchens. PWS’sability to provide solutions to technical problems arising from on-site assembly is necessarily limited.

Although we always strive to maintain consistency, there may be slight batch-to-batch variances on our paint-to-orderranges and made-to-order veneer products and so it is important that all doors are ordered as one definitive order perkitchen. PWS cannot guarantee an exact colour match between orders placed apart.

Recommended cabinet specifications The following cabinet specifications and accessorisation are recommended in order to both maintain consistency withthe photography utilised in the Metris marketing materials and to create maximum impact for your displays to maximisesales opportunities.

Cabinetry Rigid 18mm carcase (see next page for suggested board materials).

Edging PVC, glass eye or aluminium effect edging.

Hinges Soft close as standard. Recommended hinge movement of 110 degree for standard cabinetry and 165 degree for internal curve frontals such as the Salice or Grass Tiomos product supplied by PWS. Minimum of 3mm mounting plate.

Drawer Systems Soft-close as standard. We recommend stainless steel or glass sided drawer boxes to encourage added value orders.

Wirework Kessebömer Arena Style with White non-slip shelving supplied by PWS.

Note: The large curve door is not symmetrical and needs to behinged on the 51.5mm flat to stop the door from binding. The top rail profile (GPT4100) can be used whenplanning a dishwasher into base cabinets. A 815-875mm fully integrated dishwasher needs to be usedfor this application and will allow for sufficient heightadjustment to sit under the rail.

Undermounted oven applications

A top rail profile can not be used in conjunctionwith an under-mounted oven. Rails must stop oneach side of the appliance. They can be finishedwith GPTEND & GPMEND end caps. Dependingon the design of the oven, end panels will need tobe fitted either side of the appliance and the railprofile terminated against the panel.

Metal brackets (supplied with dishwasher)should be fixed to the outer face of adjacentcabinets. Please Note: an additional bracingbaton may be required to the rear of themachine to help reduce movement.

When applying a corner post or internal corner doors, a top internal corner joint is required for two top profiles torun into. The internal corner joint section is supplied with two screws which when in position secure the joint to the rail profiles.

End caps can be used when top rail trims come to an end (e.g. against a wall or endpanel next to appliances). A screw is supplied to attach the end cap firmly to the rail.

A mid joint section is available to hide joints in certainapplications where two top rail profiles meet (e.g. whena straight rail profile meets a curved rail section).

Please note: When using mid joints, a 5mm spacing must be taken intoaccount when cutting down the rail profiles that are being joined at either side.

An external corner joint is available when running top rail profiles around an island or corner. The external corner jointis supplied with two screws, which when in position, secure the joint firmly to the rail profile.

When joining two mid rail profiles in a corner application a mid profile internal corner joint is required for two midprofiles to run in to. The internal corner joint is supplied with two screws which when in position secure the joint to therail profiles.

End caps can be used when mid rail trims come to an end (e.g. against a wall or end panelnext to appliances). A screw is supplied to attach the end cap firmly to the rail.

The base panel of the wall unit needs to be set back20.8mm to accommodate the rail profile within theoverall depth of the cabinet.

A groove (3.2mm high, 8mm deep) must then berouted into the base panel using slotting cutters.

Rail profiles for wall units are available in straight lengths (GPW3900) as well as curved rail sections. Single straightrail lengths are cut down to size (using a circular chop saw) to fit the required number of cabinets.

Please note: Try to position the screw holes in the cabinet sothey are concealed (such as behind hinge plates) when internalcomponents are added.

When joining cabinets in larder runs, a spacer is needed atthe back to maintain the 30mm void created by the trimprofile. The spacer is screw fixed to the cabinets from theinside of each cabinet.

The vertical intermediate profile (GPV2250MID) can be used in the scenario where two openingdoors meet or where an integrated appliance, suchas a fridge/freezer is installed. Due to the widthand placement of the trims, a 30mm spacer isrequired at the back between the two cabinets tomaintain the space created by the trim. The frontof the gables on the cabinets need to be set backby 12mm for the trim to overlap behind the doors.The trim is securely fixed to the cabinets with 4x30mm countersunk screws.

The vertical lateral profile (GPV2250END) can beused in the scenario where you have an openingdoor to one side, and an appliance, such as anoven, in the adjacent cabinet or are terminating arun with an end panel. Due to the width andplacement of the trims, a 30mm spacer is requiredat the back between the two cabinets to maintainthe space created by the trim. The front of thegables on the cabinets need to be set back by12mm for the trim to overlap behind the door. Thetrim is securely fixed to the cabinets with 4x 60mmcountersunk screws.

The vertical appliance profile (GPV2250APP) can beused between two appliance housing units, whereyou have two ovens sat side by side, or where theoven housing meets an end panel. Due to the widthand placement of the trims, a 30mm spacer isrequired at the back between the two cabinets tomaintain the space created by the trim. As theappliance trim profile has no detailed ends, thegable ends are not to be set back. The trim sitsflush with the front of the gable ends and the trim issecurely fixed to the cabinets with 4x 60mmcountersunk screws.

In addition to the Tomba handleless chamfer door, aluminium rail profiles can be used with non-chamfer slab doors inthe Metris collection, enabling handleless kitchen designs for all finishes including Inzo, Textured, Centris, IzariFresco/Avant vinyl ranges. However, there are some design modifications to consider when planning base units.

Handleless rail options with non-chamfer doors on wall units and talllarder/appliance housings

The handleless cabinet configurations for wall units and talllarder/appliance housings are based on standard door anddrawer size combinations. This means that all door ranges inthe Metris collection can be planned to work with thehandleless rail profiles on wall and tall units without anychange to cabinet sizes.

Handleless rail options with non-chamfer doors on base units

When using non-chamfer slab doors with railprofiles on base units, a change in cabinet height isrequired as follows:

Base unit cabinet configurations with thealuminium rail profile are based on non-standarddoor and drawer sizes to accommodate the railsand frontals within a standard 720mm highcabinet (e.g. 684.5mm high door, plus 35mm railhigh rail instead of a 715mm high door).

When using rail profiles on base units with non-chamfer slab (e.g. Inzo, Textured, Centris, Izari,Avant, Fresco), the cabinet height must beamended (a suggested height is 750mm). Thisleaves a 35mm space between the top of thedoor/drawer and underneath the worktop. If youwant to maintain a standard height worktop, thecabinet height can be kept at 720mm whilstreducing the height of the plinth and cabinet legsadjusted accordingly.

Please note: When planning kitchens with rail profiles and non-chamfer slab doors, you should consult with your trademanufacturer to discuss the most appropriate cabinitry specification for your specific design requirements.

Strips oftimber/board

Panels can be attached to the cabinet by fixing strips of timber/board to the backof the panel, which are the same length as the internal height of the cabinet, thenscrew fixing into them through the top and bottom of the cabinet. Alternatively thepanels can be biscuit jointed to the top and bottom of the cabinet.

The Concave drawer pack in Tomba is supplied ina set (2x 160mm, 1x 325mmm) to suit a 720mmhigh base cabinet. Corresponding rail profilesneed to be ordered seperately.

An electronic open mechanism can beused with the curved drawer pack. Youwill need to use a flat back panel. Aminimum space of 538mm is requiredbetween the fixing blocks and the backof the cabinet for an electronic openmechanism to be used.

A pilot hole is on the back of the drawer front in themiddle. This is to indicate where the base panelsupport connector (CDBPSC) can be fixed.SEE PAGE 103 FOR FULL INFORMATION
