AUXILIAY VENTILATION•Auxiliary ventilation is supplying air to the places in mine where main ventilation air stream is inadequate or unavailable.

•The practice of augmenting the main ventilation system is termed as auxiliary ventilation.

APPLICATIONS OF AUXILIARY VENTILATION Three categories:1- Supplying air to dead-end working places, both development and production (quantity control).

2- Supplying uncontaminated air to faces of working places in contaminated environments (quality control).

3- Supplying conditioned air to faces of working places in uncomfortably hot or cold environment (temperature-humidity control).

tubing.

LINE BRATTICE• The erection of a curtain longitudinally in an entry or a room effectively divides that opening in two.

• If the brattice is erected form the last through cross-cut to within a few feet of the working face, ventilating air can be directed to the face along one side of the face and returned along the other side.

•The permissible distance of advance beyond the last cross-cut is precribed by law and may not exceed 105 ft.

•Line brattice is usually constructed of fire resistant, burlap-like cloth which is hung from posts or hangers in roof.

COMPRESSED AIR EXHAUST• The widespread use of compressed air for power in metal mine suggest it as an attractive supplement and substitute for ventilation.

• Ventilation by direct compressed air exhaust.• Compressed air discharge from compressed air power equipments and machinery.

FAN AND VENTILATION PIPE•Most economical and desirable method.

•Fans attached to pipes or tubing.•Small electric powered fans .

•A single length of vent pipe or tubing is suspended in the working place from timber sets or hangers in the back or walls and attached to a small auxiliary fan, usually a blower but sometimes a booster or an exhauster.
