Apart from this many students are pursuing higher studies in India like NITs, IITs, IIMs, and

IIPM. The Business English Certificate (BEC), a certification from Cambridge University is a

qualification in English for work. It is given under three levels - Preliminary, Vantage and Higher. All

the second year students are given BEC training for a week and then they take the BEC examination,

conducted by the Cambridge University in our campus. For the past six years, our college is the best

COMMUNICATION SKILL ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

Centre for Training and Placement of St Joseph’s is largely responsible and

committed towards the identification and catering to the need of training of students

so that they are able to develop a good personality; and assist them to find right job

and help them place in right companies before they pass out. We realize that in order

to convert a raw student in to employable graduate, several behavioural attributes

need to be addressed in addition to the development of technical skills. Some of the

behavioural attributes are good communication skills, developing positive attitude

towards work, and understanding of moral and ethical values.

Every academic year, our college has taken an initiative to improve the

communication skill of the students by organizing 48 hrs Communication skill

enhancement program. The aim of this program is to empower our students to take

up the future campus recruitment with confidence. All the first year students are

evaluated for communication skill by the expert committee. Based on the evaluation

students are categorized into three levels and students are given appropriate training.

This communication enhancement program is conducted by corporate trainers from

Strides & Winspire.

NGO ACTIVITIES

The current day society is plagued by poverty to an extent that it has numbed the lives of the

orphaned and aged poor. Bereft of support systems, they are left in abject misery. It is to their aid that the

St. Joseph's college have meticulously planned and executed Non–governmental organizational

activities, for the past one year. These NGO activities, a brain child of our beloved Chairman &

Managing Director are organized by young and emerging engineers of our college to make a difference

in the lives of the marginalized and impoverished. The main aim of these activities is to promote the

interest of the poor, Protect the environment Provide the basic social services, to relieve suffering &

undertake community development

These activities are funded from the management to work for social change so that we create a

society in which our institutions and organizations are equitable and just and all people are safe,

adequately fed, adequately housed, well educated, able to work at safe, decent jobs, and able to

participate in the decisions that affect their lives.NGO activities were introduced in the college on the

premise that students would evince academic gains from their volunteering efforts. The various places

visited by our students during this academic year are listed below:

DEPARTMENT SPORTS ACTIVITIES The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. As this quote says our

sports students train really hard throughout their course to bring victory

and laurels to our esteemed institution. The hard work they do really pays

off when they participate in national and international tournaments. Many

students have achieved a lot to bring victory and laurels to our institution.

At their best, sports are about more than just winning games and

diverting crowds. They test the limits of what the human body and spirit

can achieve. We congratulate the following sports students from our

department for bring laurels to our institution by participating and

winning various sports events organized by various institutions across the

country.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS

Industrial visit is an opportunity for the students to gain firsthand knowledge on the

functioning of the industries and to get the feel of an industrial setup. Also, it is a chance to

interact with the experienced people and observe the practical applications of what is

theoretically learnt. The students were exposed to many industries in electrical core this year.

Many experts in the fields explained about the processes going on in the industries. Eminent

substations like Sriperumbudur substation, Whirpool manufacturing service and NLC were the

places where students were taken to. A detailed knowledge about the industries were imparted to

VALUE ADDED COURSE

Value Added Courses are provided to students with an aim to teach and train in programming

skills. The goal is to accelerate the programming capability needed for solving scientific and real time

problems demanded by the corporate world. It is great boon to our students, in expertise various Value

Added Courses which enables them to face the formidable challenges. As solar energy harvesting has

become popular nowadays a basic knowledge on solar energy harvesting, construction and operation of

solar panels and franchising opportunities available in this field will enable the students to get

motivation for entrepreneurial skills based on solar energy.

BEST OUT GOING STUDENT AWARD

Success is not the destination that we reach. Success is the quality of our journey. The quality

of the journey depends upon the goals we set the mentor we choose. The quality of the mentor lies in

appreciating even the smallest effort as appreciation is the only tool which enables us to build the

impossible. Mankind’s greatest achievements have come about by constant encouragement. Our

greatest hopes could become reality in the future if our efforts are recognized. All we need to do is to

appreciate and encourage the young minds as most achievers are people who have made a strong and

deep dedication to pursue a particular goal. St. Joseph’s recognizes this dedication by awarding the

student with “The best Outgoing Student Award”. The most prestigious and most awaited award

ceremony of the year “The best Outgoing Student Award” for the year was held on the Achievers Day

on 11th of April 2015.

The students from various departments were nominated based upon various traits, achievements or

accomplishments

Academic Performance indicated by CGPA
