Message from our President, Dan Russ March 2007 The effort each of you made for our 2007 Charity Auction is very much appreciated. We had 100% participation with our annual auction and we exceeded expectations in both donations and money raised. We are making a difference in our community and this is because of your passion to be involved! I appreciate the leadership of Shan Vipond, Auction Chair and the entire auction committee. This event requires the involvement of every member! Our auction will benefit many needs in our community – especially the Helping Hand House and the Puyallup Valley Food Bank. Both are in need of our support, and we are there to help! As Rotary President Bill Boyd has suggested, it is our part to “LEAD THE WAY” toward a better world. Our Annual Charity Auction is an example of leading the way. I am simply amazed at the “can do” attitude of our club members and our clubs ability to make a difference in so many areas of community need. Just consider some of the variety of community needs we have addressed: Our annual visit by District Governor Erik Frederickson, was special: we met at Bradley Lake Park for the ground breaking ceremony for the ball fields (we provided a large donation). Our Courage Classic participation was fantastic and we benefited the Mary Bridge Foundation. The Wine & Jazz Gala was a new event initiated by Karen Hansen and a fabulous success – again supporting community needs! We stepped forward and provided a substantial donation to Pierce College in support of the new Garnero Childcare Center at Pierce College Puyallup. And once again, our Poinsettia sales provided holiday cheer and financial support for our community! In the middle of the holiday season, many of you stepped forward to ring bells for the Salvation Army – amazing! As we prepared for the annual auction – many of you stepped forward to provide a large donation to the PolioPlus Partners. At that moment, we were working together to support local and international needs at the same time! I am honored to be your club president – and recognize that each of you is a leader who is making a difference in our community. Let us continue to “Lead the Way!” Dan Russ
