Mess Hall is a mid-century brick warehouse that has been converted into four commercial kitchens shared by DC’s hottest emerging food entrepreneurs. We are also home to DC’s most unique and buzzworthy venue. Our newly-renovated event space boasts 18’ ceilings and a fully-functional demonstration kitchen, designed to create interactive experiences and unforgettable events.

Mess Hall is the only venue in the city where an open kitchen engages partygoers for a fully interactive culinary experience. Our Great Room, adorned with reclaimed wood shelves and sliding barn doors, is a blank canvas that is ideal for weddings, private parties, networking events, book signings, filmings, pop-up restaurants and everything in between. The adjacent Tile Room is available for overflow seating or a satellite bar.

Our partially-enclosed Garage Bay features exposed brick, and glows with twinkle lights. It offers an open-air feeling any time of year and boasts an optional stage for live entertainment.

Every event is uniquely memorable and colored by your imagination. Our team brings 20+ years of experience to help bring your concept to life.

Three event spaces can be combined into one dynamic venue to complement your vision, or partition one area for a more intimate gathering. Our 2019 base rate is $500 / hour.

Part of what makes Mess Hall so unique is our community of local Members who produce within our walls. Our food & beverage producers range from full-service caterers and food trucks to bakers and makers of specialty products and everything in between. Members are the only approved vendors to cater events at Mess Hall. With almost 40 companies at your service, our community can match almost any culinary style or budget! We’re constantly adding new talent to our line up, and we keep strong relationships with our alumni, who love to return for events. Under special circumstances, we may consider outside food to be brought in.
