Official ID Card My husband, a U.S. Coast Guard pilot, was on an exchange tour withthe Royal Navy in England. Everyone who drove through the base's gates was requiredto hold an official ID card up to the windshield for inspection by the guards. As a friend-ly competition, my husband's squadron started flashing different forms of ID, such as adriver's license, just to see how far they could go to fool the busy guards. The winner? The fellow who breezed past waving a piece of toast.

It's a Girl Stationed in Okinawa, Japan, my son and his wife were expecting their firstbaby. I was elated when he called me at work with the news of my grandchild's birth. Itook down all the statistics and turned to relate it all to my co-workers. "I'm a grand-mother!" I declared. "It's a baby girl, and she weighs five pounds." "When was sheborn?" someone asked. Recalling the date my son told me, I stopped, looked at the cal-endar, and said in amazement, "Tomorrow!"
