Sunday, February 24Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
"… Do not forget this:
mercy is a gift; forgiveness and giving.
In this way, the heart expands,
it grows with love.
While selfishness and anger
make the heart small,
they make it harden like a stone.
Which do you prefer?
A heart of stone or a heart full of love?
If you prefer a heart full of love,
be merciful!"
Pope Francis, General AudienceSept. 21, 2016

Busy Student RetreatApril 7-11
Everything about this retreat is intended to help deepen your awareness of your faith relationship with God. The two most important elements of this retreat are the commitments you make to spend time in personal prayer and reflection each day and meet with a spiritual companion to discuss your journey, as well as, the fruits of your prayer and reflection. Please register at http://bit.ly/2SGJrwA. Contact Tim Higgins with questions. [email protected].
Try the 1% Challenge™ (The Evangelical Catholic) for 30 Days
In today’s day and age, perhaps some people would prefer that the 30-Day Kick Start biblical texts below be hyperlinked to their full text via our electronic devices. We understand. But today, we challenge you to be less “techie” with prayer and Scripture.
While there often is great value in Bible apps and online prayer tools, an increasingly computer-driven life can also be a deterrent to deeper growth in prayer.
The temptation to multi-task or to quickly check a notification grows stronger and stronger for many. Stop and challenge yourself. Pick up an actual, physical Bible, and take a minute to locate the Gospel passage from the 30-Day Kick Start.
Unplug for 15 minutes each day in order to meditate on God’s Word. No dings, no pings, no frills, no multi-tasking. Just you, the Lord, and His Word. It has always been a life-changing practice, and it always will be. Jesus said “when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret,” (Matthew 6:6).
Cards with the suggested scripture readings are available in the Commons. Please pick one up and accept the challenge.

This Lent, Sheil has two different group opportunities and one individual oppor-tunity to engage in the journey to "Feed your Spirit." You can:
1. Join a group to discuss Bishop Robert Barron's book "Lenten Gospel Reflec-tions"
2. Join a group to discuss videos with reflection questions around a common theme. The video and commentary will be sent to you via text or email once a week to watch at your convenience and you will gather as a group to discuss reactions/reflections.
(Text EngageSheil to 84576 to join the group, then follow the instructions or wait for Mary to enroll you after you fill out the form). You may choose from among three themes)
3. You can simply receive the video and reflections and use them for self reflection if you don't have time to join a group (Text EngageSheil to 84576 to join and follow the instructions or wait for Mary to enroll you after you fill out the form)Follow this link to sign up for small group or individual reflections.

Associate’s Habitat for Humanity Trip
Associates from the Sheil community have been traveling to the same community in Tutwiler Missis-
sippi since 2004. Associates have formed a bond with the residents and the residents look forward to working with our volunteers every year. The trip is a unique and uplifting experience for all.
"There are so many aspects of the trip that are refreshing --- relating my volunteering work to catholic teaching, laughing like I have not laughed in months, pounding nails into a block of wood, and meeting the excited soon-to-be home owners." - Nicole Sleiter, 2015
Applications for the Associate’s Habitat for Humanity Trip to Tutwiler, MS are now available. Meet your fellow associates, learn basic home construction, and provide meaningful service to an impoverished community in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. The cost is $350 per person and space is limited.
All applications are due by March 15th. If you have any questions, please contact Mike Perry at (847)-673-0121 or by email: [email protected].
